I woke up with a start when I felt someone kissing me. I also heard laughter.

“Eww, Daddy,” I heard my son’s voice, filled with disgust.

“What? I love kissing your mom,” Mateo replied, showering me with kisses.

“I love Mommy too. Can I kiss her?” my son asked.  What an innocent baby.

“Sure, come here,” Mateo said. I felt the bed sink.

I felt my son’s lips brush against mine, so I opened my eyes and smiled at the sight before me.  Mateo was on my right, and Kyle was on my left.

“Good afternoon,” I said. Both of them winced, making me confused.

“B-bakit? May mali ba akong nasabi?” I asked, perplexed.

“It’s 7 in the evening na po, Mommy,” my son said, making my eyes widen and my jaw drop. I looked at the window and realized he was right. The sky was dark. As I came to my senses, I quickly stood up and went to the bathroom.

Kyle furrowed his brow. "Where are you going, Mommy?" he asked.

"Aren't we going to celebrate?" I asked back. Both of them shook their heads.

"You were in a deep sleep, so I didn’t bother to wake you up to pick up Kyle,” Mateo said, which made me frown.

“Ginising mo sana ako,” I said, pouting.

“I’ve tried, but nothing happened. You even threw a pillow,” he said, shrugging and chuckling.

“Pwede pa naman mag-celebrate ngayon, e. Tara na,” I said, but they both shook their heads.

“Tomorrow na lang po, Mommy,” Kyle said, so I nodded. "May bukas pa naman po."

“Sige, kung ayan ang gusto mo,” I said and went to my son.

“Yes, Mommy. You look tired,” he said, but I shook my head.

“Mommy is fine. Do you want to meet your Lolo and Tito?” I asked, remembering my father and brother.

“What Lolo and Tito?  Andito naman sila.  And Lolo Carlos, I already met them, right?” he asked, confused. I looked at Mateo to ask for permission, and he nodded in response.

“Mommy’s Father and older Brother,” I said, making him furrow his brow even more.

“They are in prison kasi may ginawa silang bad pero, si Mommy. I already forgive them, kaya I want you to meet them... is it okay with you?” I asked. He smiled.

“Yes po, Mommy,” he said with a smile, which made me smile back. “I have another Tito and Lolo.”  He added happily.  I smiled at him.

At eight years old, he was so mature for his age, probably because of Mateo. Kapag pinagtabi lang sila para silang magkapatid.

“After we celebrate, we will go to Lolo and Tito and buy them food,” I said.

It hadn’t even been a week, but I already had the strength to talk to them and forgive them.  I wanted to forget what happened, let go of my anger, and start over.

We were at the table, ready to eat, because it was already 8 PM. It was just the three of us at the table, since my mom and Tita Majika were already done eating. Mateo and Kyle were waiting for me so I wouldn’t eat alone.

“Don’t forget to brush your teeth. Good night, anak,” I said to him after we finished eating.  I kissed him on the cheek.

“Good night, Dad,” he said to his dad.
