Chapter 17

I open the door to the bakery, a smell instantly hitting my face 'Wow, something smells amazing.' I walk toward the kitchen "I'm back, Valery." I say as I go through the doorway "Oh! Welcome back, you're early though." I look at the clock 'What, it's only 10?' I sigh as I thought "I guess I am, I'll help you with the baking until it's 11." I quickly roll my sleeves up and wash my hands after I grab the ingredients I need and start baking as me and Val talk about whatever comes to mind. The hour passes quickly "Oh! Look at the time! I'll open up the bakery, could you clean up for me?" I nod as Val walks out of the room and goes to unlock the door, I neatly put everything back and clean the dishes "We're so messy." I mumbled to myself but then the memory of earlier in the forest popped up in my mind 'It 's so strange, why was it so close to the village.' "Amelia! Come to the counter, there's already people here!" I jump as I hear Valery 'I nearly forgot.' I quickly head to the counter and start my shift. The line starts to go down and tables become more empty, I sigh in relief 'It's finally over.' Val comes out with more homemade delicacies and smiles at me, I knew that I'd get some for my lunch break so I smile back then continue with my shift praying for it to end. "Hello! What can I get you today?" I look up to a tall muscled man as he looks down on me "Just some uh... Bread." He was so awkward and he looked familiar but I didn't know how or where I'd see him but then my brain clicked and I was full of anixety 'That's him, that's the man from before, from that night.' I tried to close my widened eyes a little and smile "Okay!" The guy was slouching a little making his posture terrible and he had a pig face, I wish I was kidding but he was a orc.

I quickly walked basically ran into the kitchen and grabbed Val's shoulder "He's here, the guy that was following us a while ago." Val's face turned from a smile to a shocked expression."Why? How'd he find us, it's been weeks." I shrug "Should I kick him out?" "No it'll cause panick, I'll go someone to help." Valery walks out the back door as I go back to the 'customer' "Hello, I'm sorry I had you waiting so long. Here's your bread that you wanted." I hand the man a bag with the loaf of bread inside. He puts a petrifying smile across her face and walks out leaving coins on the counter as other people walk toward the counter 'What just happened.' unfortunately I didn't keep him around long enough though so when Val got back with a adventurer the orc was gone, I end up finishing my shift early and going my bedroom to take a nap. I get comfy in my PJs and slowly fall asleep while val goes to buy food from the market. I woke up from my slumber in a cold sweat and my eyes widened in shock, it must have been something to do with my dream but I couldn't remember it so I tried calming down and falling asleep once again.

I drag myself up once again forgetting about the dreams I had and start stretching my limbs then I walk over to my closest and get into some casual clothing to go down and eat 'Dinner should be done.' I hear Val humming as I step down the stairs trying to wake myself up and wipe any sleep form my eyes, I walk through the kitchen doorway "Hey sleepyhead." I sit down at the table and groan "I'm so tired." "Well, you can go back to sleep after dinner." I nod and wait patiently to eat as Val finishes off dinner. Valery brings out plates to the dining table and placed a fork and knife behind the plates, I waited until she sat down as well then we both started eating "This is incredible as usual." Val smiles at me and continues to empty the plate full of food. I help Valery clean the dishes and cutlery, as I look up at her I notice she wants to tell me something but stops and looks away leaving a upset expression on her face. I give her a hug then I walk up the stairs thinking about Valery's expression and making every step I take creak, I stand in my doorway and look at the closet 'I can't be bothered to change.' I jump into bed and get into the covers, I lay my head on the soft pillow and close my eyes slowly falling to sleep.
