Kakureta's Backstory

Chapter 8

I finally arrive at the long waited palace 'That was so confusing.' I kept getting lost even with people talking me where to go finally I got a small adorable girl to show me, somehow even though she was in her teens she looked way younger. I walk onto a long bridge getting longer to the palace gates, as I reach the gates two of the guards stopped me "What business do you have being here?" One of them said grumpily "No one is expecting guests." The other spoke 'Oh my I forgot to actually say I'd be coming, how could I not think about that.' I panicked "Uhm, I'm sorry I forgot to write a letter to Asmodeus beforehand." I said nervously, the guards looked confused I believe because I didn't use lord or some type of title. "Who are you?" The grumpy man spoke both looking at eachother with that confused expression still "I'm sorry, I'm a friend of his. My official title is Lady Kakureta." I gave them a small smile and rub the back of my head. After hearing that their expressions turned from curious into a fake smile "Go right ahead" they both say in almost sync which means they were probably expecting me to come. I open the large palace doors as I walk in I get greeted with multiple different maids as I look around one of them speaks up "Hello, I need you to follow me the lord is expecting you." Her voice was soft and quiet how I heard her was incredible, I nod my head and follow her down a long hallway with 6 doors and one right at the end.

I sit down on a chair in a calming lounge type room waiting for Lord Asmodeus, the room was quite large with a fireplace and chairs Infront of it, bookshelves with so many books you'd think it's a library and other furniture. I wonder around the bookshelves looking at the books he has until I hear a knock then a door creaking open "I'm sorry miss, the lord is busy at the moment." The lady before looked embarrassed since I came all this way to see him "It's fine.. uhm" I question for her name "Oh! It's Annabelle." She looked at the ground avoiding eye contact "Well, thank you for the help Annabelle. I'll be going now." I walk past her but she grabs my left hand as I'm about to turn "Please, come back tomorrow Lady Kakureta!" I smile and her and nod continuing to walk back to the gates "You're back so soon." The more timid one looked almost shocked "Aha, yes he was busy. Don't worry I'll be back tomorrow." I wave to them while walking backwards then turn going down to the crowded town square 'I swear you'd think there's a festival going on, although it looks fun it's so easy to get lost.' I admit to myself, I take a deep breath and walk through the crowd of people also buying unique food as I do.

I find another carriage but no one nearby, I sit lead against it and wait for someone "Hello? Do you need something." A short old man questions "Oh I'd like to know if I can get a ride back home, Edolas." I lightly smiled at the dwarf "Sure, little missy." He says while messing with my hair, I climb onto the back. He gets on and we start heading back to the palace, the views were beautiful there were forests, mountains and so many animals I'd never seen before I got so excited I nearly fell off the seat but unfortunately the carriage stops in the middle of path "Why'd we stop?" I shout to the front where he was supposed to be sitting instead as I turn my head he's right in front of me so I let out a scream from the scare "Sorry one of the wheels weren't screwed in properly, we have to wait for another carriage." He spoke quietly ashamed for not checking them "Oh, I can walk the rest of the way, don't worry." I jumped off but as I start walking the short stopped me and handed me a small blade "Just in case you get into trouble." He smiles and I nod turning and walking off. It was starting to get dark I was even starting to get scared since there were owls hooting and ruffling in the bushes and trees anything could be out there and I was right, a dark figure jumps out and charges at me I let out a scream and run past him as fast as I could even though I was getting tired fast all I could hear behind me was the tall figure shouting but I didn't know what he was shouting.
