I took deep breaths before knocking on the door, preparing myself just incase Michelle answered.
So, I was pleased when I seen Alex's curly hair through the glass flower, ingraved door.
I smiled as he greeted me.
"Ok theres one small detail I forgot to tell you Nate, she kinda has a man friend over" he said as I furrowed my eyebrows but tried to keep professional. After all I wasn't here to win her back. I'm in a relationship.
"Ok" I said as I took off my black coat and hung it where Alex showed me and proceede to the dinning room area.
"Everyone's in the dinning room" he whispered. I felt like we were hiding like why are we whispering fam?
"Ok but why do we have to whisper?" I said as he tensed up.
"I kinda um, didn't tell her you were coming" he said as My eyes widened.
"Shit" "What if she's still mad at me? We never really worked all our stuff out" I said.
"What stuff?" he said.
Fuck, I forgot he didn't know why we split, just that we did.
"Long story short, we broke up" I said as he scoffed.
"I know that but why?"
"Can't talk right now, I gotta go in there" I said as he grabbed my arm.
"Ok but before you do, you know the lady up the street? May? she's here, Michelles dad is here and our grandparents so please keep the cussing to a minimum" he said as I laughed lowly.
" I got you" I said as I stood up straight and Alex lead the way to the dinning room.
"Dad, grandma, grandpa this is Nathan" he said. I tightened my jaw.
"But you can call me Nate" I smiled saying that as nicely as possible.
I looked down at the table, both Michelle and her 'man friend' were absent.
"Oh hello sweetie, I'm jewel" Michelles grandma said.
"And I'm Frank" her grandpa said sending me a smile.
"Nice to meet you" I said.
"I'm Liam, Michelles dad" her father said getting up and shaking my hand. He was rather tall, taller than me.
He looked straight into my eyes as he shook my hand and patted my back before sitting down.
"Oh wait, and I'm May" a lady around Michelles dad age said and gave me a hug.
"Well sit" she laughed as I chuckled and took my seat next to Alex.
"Are you a friend of mh daughters?" Her dad asked.
"Yes, an old friend of hers" I said and smiled.
"What kind of friend were you? You seem like a nice guy. Come on now, I won't bite" he laughed as I slighty smiled.
He's trying to make me uncomfortable.
"I used to be a boyfriend of hers" I said as he smiled and laughed.
"I knew it was something like that" he said as May looked up.
"Oh, you were the one she used to tell me about" she said as I furrowed my eye brows.
"What?" I said as politely as I could.
"Yeah she used to tell me how you rejec-
"Nate?" Someone interrupted.
I turned my head in the direction in which the call came from, I know her voice.
There she stood, looking surprised, astounded almost.
She looked the best I've ever seen her.
Her hair was now a light brown, with small highlights. Her eyes brighter.
She wore a nice dress, a navy blue dress that fit her figure.
"Michelle" I said standing up.
I didn't know where we stood on terms if I could hug her or not.
We stood in silence for a while just looking at each other.
I winked at her and she smiled but we were rudely interrupted by her 'man friend' clearing his throat.
"Hi, I'm Justin" he said reaching his hand out.
"Nate" I said giving him a head nod.
He slid his hand back to his pockets realizing I wasn't gonna shake it.
"Well, guys sit down" Liam said as we did.
Michelle sat next to Justin, as I sat next to Alex.
Her family talked and told jokes, all in which went in one ear and out the other.
All I was focused on was her.
"How are you?" I asked her while everyone was distracted.
"I'm well and you?" she asked trying not to look at me.
Taking a risk, I reached across the table and lifted her chin up with my index finger as my thumb grazed her chin.
She peered up at me, her eyes showed an emotion I couldn't figure out.
"So how was Oregon?" May asked as I hurried and moved back.
She cleared her throat "Good, Our softball team won the NCAA's this year" she smiled as her eyes filled with joy.
"And I got my degree in film making" she said as I smiled.
"I also have mine " Justin added.
Bro, no one cares.
He had to add his two cents.
I chuckled as everyone turned there heads to me.
"What are you into?" Justin asked me.
"I'm into music, actually. " I said as her dad nodded.
"Any success?" he asked.
"Yes, I have a concert in two days, and I've toured around a little bit and I have some songs on itunes and soundcloud" I said as everyone nodded.
"Michelle knows" I said as Justin looked at her. Everyone waiting for her response.
"Oh um, yes. He's really into music. It's his passion as he says" she laughed.
"I actually have some of his songs on my phone" she said and that made me happy. To know a piece of me was with her all these months.
"Well, maybe you can let us hear some of it after dinner" her dad smiled as May brought out the dinner.
"I hope you guys like it" she said as I looked down at the steak, mashed potatoes, gravy and biscuits.
"Thank you" I said as she smiled.
Over all her family seemed pretty laid back, like she was. They were all cool.
"So like we all just spent the night at the station" Justin laughed telling one of his college jokes.
Everyone chuckled as I smiled slighty.
These were the jokes some of those high class people tell. And, they weren't funny.
I laughed seeing Michelle shake her head at the joke, and knowing why I wasn't laughing.

"Are you goin back?" I asked as she shook her head.
"No, I'm finished with my studies but I wanna get into movies and stuff. How are things with you and the guys?" she asked as I began to talk.

"We're good, and you when did you meet sir charming over here" I smiled as she laughed.
"Shut up, he's sweet" she laughed.
"There she is, I was waitiing for you to act how you used to" I laughed.
"I always act like myself. Shut up. So do you have anyone your seeing? Since your all on me for Justin" she laughed.
I've missed that sound.
"Yeah actually, Morgan" I said as something changed in her.

The way she looked, the brightness in her face. It dimmed.
" I knew that would happen" she laughed. "You seemed like you had a strong bond with her" she said.
I wanted to tell her it wasn't stronger than the one I had for her but, I couldn't get it out.
"Yeah" I said.

Time passed and it was around time to go.
"Thank you for having me over Alex. I felt like I had to see her at least one more time. She seems happy" I said seeing her laugh with Justin.
"I know I just feel like it won't last with him. He's isn't like her, they have very little in common" Alex countered.
I stood there gazing off at her.
"You still love her"
"What?"
"You still love her, the way you look at her. Like she means something to you"
"Its because she does. She does mean something to me. Shes my everything" I said and walked out the door.

I sat in my car for 15 minutes after I walked out.
I sat there in silence until Michelle walked out.
She walked out into the cold, rubbing her arms looking up at the moon.
"What am I supposed to do" I heard her say as she sat on the curb.
I got out the car walking towards her.
I seen she looked cold so I took my jacket off sitting next to her.
She looked back at me and smiled.
"Put it on" I said as she put on the jacket.
We sat in silence looking at the moon, she laid her head on my shoulder.
"I'm glad you came" she said as I leaned my head on hers.
"It was good to see you again" I said
" I missed you" I said.
"I missed you" she replied.
"For a long time, I was sad. Not because of what happened between us but because I couldn't see you. You made me happy, and I don't know if anyone else could make me as happy as you did. Not even Justin" She said.
"I thought if I was with someone I'd forget and honestly it got to the point where I believed it worked. Until now of course. Promise me this though Nate. No matter how far we get, with or without eachother we will always have the same feelings. Please, because I still love you but I don't know if I can" She said looking up at me grabbing my hand.
"I promise"
