Makoto was hanging out with Sayaka today since it was a weekend. He saw Kyoko walking out the library and wanted to greet her. "Hey, Kiri! How are you?" He greeted her. She waved and then spoke. "I'm fine, thank you." She said as she walked pass them and entered her dorm. Sayaka kept her eyes peeled to make sure Makoto wasn't interested in her. "You gave her a nickname?" Sayaka asked him. "Yep! She's a great friend!" He said cheerfully. "But, she's always quiet." Sayaka didn't understand. "I don't mind! She's really smart too." He said as he looked at her dorm door. Sayaka quietly groaned of frustration. "Hey um, Makoto.." She called him by his first name. "Yea?" He said surprised that she said his first name. "Would you possibly want to-" "Naegi, you left your notebook in my bag." Kyoko handed Makoto his notebook. "AHH! Oh, it's just you, Kiri." He said calming down. "Apologies." "No its ok! I just got a little startled is all." He smiled at her. He took his notebook but, as he did his hand touched her glove. "Oh I'm sorry!" He quickly took. "It's alright." She walked back to her dormitory room. "Why were you in her room?" Sayaka asked. "Oh no. We did some homework in the library together to bond. It was my idea of course. And I might of accidentally put my notebook in her bag. It was some really hard math homework. After that, I understand a lot of it!" He chirped. Sayaka rolled her eyes secretly. "I'll be elsewhere, see ya Makoto!"
Sayaka waved and walked away but, she hid behind a corner and waited for Makoto to leave. Makoto went into his dorm room, how naïve. Afterwards, Sayaka knocked on Kyoko's dorm door. Kyoko opened it seeing Sayaka with a upset face. "Is there something wrong, Maizono?" Kyoko asked. "Yes as a matter of fact there is." She tried to push Kyoko but, she moved out the way. Sayaka nearly fell. "What's your problem with my Makoto?" She asked in a bit of a sassy way. "Naegi and I are merely friends, as he titled our relationship." Kyoko looked at her with an emotionless face as usual. "Do you like him?" She asked again. "No. We had met yesterday." Kyoko said. "Well you talk to Makoto a lot, you must trust him or something." Sayaka placed her hand on her hip. "Im fine with him speaking to me. I won't tell him my personal information unless it's about my talent." She said. "Well he sees you as a girlfriend. I can tell by looking at him!" Sayaka said raising her voice. "Well then I'll ask him. You can come too." Sayaka walked behind Kyoko as they approached his dorm. Kyoko knocked on his dorm door. Makoto opened the door and let them in. "Naegi, I have a question." "Oh? What is it?" "Do you like me as a girlfriend?" She asked plainly. Makoto's cheeks turned a bright red as he stuttered constantly. "W-Why do you ask so sudden?" He asked. "Sayaka says that you liked me and she has evidence saying the way you look at me." She said crossing her arms in a restful way. "What do you mean? I-I don't look at her in a weird way..I'm not that type of guy." Makoto said confusingly. "You do so! Your always looking her from behind!" Sayaka lied. Kyoko was unfazed. "What are you talking about? I would never! And you know this." Makoto stopped blushing. "Of course you do! You always tell me how pretty she is." Sayaka lied again. "Well I would admit that she's very beautiful but, I would never in my life look at her in that weird way. What's gotten into you?" He asked.
"Before you 2 start arguing, I would like to confirm something." Kyoko said trying to stop their argument. "Naegi isn't lying. I can tell by body language. I hope you didn't forget I'm a detective." Kyoko said. Sayaka scoffed and turned the other way, not allowing them to see her face. "I'll let you 2 handle this..quarrel." Kyoko walked out of Makoto's dorm and shut the door behind her. Makoto looked disappointedly at Sayaka and frowned. "Why did you say that? That wasn't like you.." Makoto said with sadness in his eyes. "Because..it's because..I like you." Sayaka turned around. Makoto looked stunned. "Then if you did why did you say all those lies? I don't see Kyoko that way." He lied. He liked Kyoko. He was ok with Sayaka though. "I know I just..thought she liked you too and tried to make her upset. I'm sorry.." She hugged Makoto. He hugged her back. "Don't do that again. I was scared that she would believe those lies. I need some space right now but, maybe in a few days we can talk about this another time ok?" He asked. Sayaka nodded. "But before I go, you were joking about her being beautiful right?" Sayaka asked. "Oh no. I wasn't joking. But, don't worry you are too!" He said trying not to offend her. She smiled at him and walked out.
Makoto sat in his room for a few minutes before walking towards Kyoko's dorm door and knocking on it. She answered. "Hey. Do you mind if I come in?" He asked. She sat still for a few seconds before nodded and widened her door. He walked in and sat on her bed. She closed her door and closed a nearby book on her nightstand. He scanned her Tv. She had paused a show that was on Netflix. It seemed like a detective show. She sat beside him. "You needed something?" She asked. "Well..I came here to talk to you..about earlier." He said. "Ok, go on." "Well I'm sorry that Sayaka lied so many times. And I'm sorry for blushing so hard.." He said with a tint of red on his cheeks. "It's fine. And while we were there you said I was 'beautiful'. Why?" She asked. That question made him blush more. He slightly began stuttering in his sentences. "Well I-I wasn't lying. I would a-admit that your very gorgeous." He said rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment. A faint of pink was on her cheeks but, she was unfazed. "Thank you for the compliment, Naegi." She thanked him. He hummed in response. "I get many compliments like that." She said turning her head away. "And whoever said those compliments weren't lying." He said. She looked back at him. She looked him in his large washed-out hazel eyes. They both started leaning in but, they both stopped. Makoto looked away feel really embarrassed of he just did. Kyoko did too. They both stayed quiet for a few seconds before speaking again. "Anyway, I was wondering if you'd like to help me with some homework. To bond, heheh." He giggled a little at the end of his sentence. "I'd be happy too.." She smiled a little. He smiled back. Sayaka was listening to their conversation but, then dashed back into her room as they approached the door. They got their math notes books and walked to the library.
As Kyoko explained a few things Makoto didn't understand properly, he stared at her eyes. They were a unique and pretty color of purple. She glanced at him as she looked at the paper. He was staring. She stared back at him and then began calling his name. "Naegi. Naegi. Naegi Makoto." She slightly raised her voice. "Huh?" "You were staring at me." "Oh! I'm sorry! I didn't mean too, I was just a little bored!" "Bored of my company?" "No, no! That's not what I meant! I love your company! I was just uh! Uh!" He began panicking. She tried calming him down. "Naegi it's fine. Your ok." She said as she gently rubbed his back. "Ok.." He exhaled. 'Cute.' Was the first thing that came to Kyoko's mind. They continued working together as Makoto kept suddenly having panic attacks almost every 5 minutes.
