Dao just placed down the receiver of telephone and sighed. P'Nee was just talking to her and was complaining that they have not seen each other the past two weeks already. She promised that they would have dinner together. She wasn't really in the mood. She was also worried about the situation between Tam and Kam, although her brother seems to be blissfully unaware of the tension between their friends. But then again he hasn't really seen them all in the same room but Dao has.
Last weekend, they gathered for lunch as was the usual practice since Kam went to London. Tam, Dao, Sak and Pop were in the dining room of the Supasun-Tay's since Dao offered to cook this time.
Dao noticed Tam eyeing Sak while Pop and Sak seems to be exchanging talk through their eyes; Sak was deliberately avoiding Tam's eyes.
As she was serving them food Tam surprised them with his question and brought her out of her reverie, 'So, will Kam join us?' Dao looked at Sak who shrugged his shoulders.
'Join us? Oh no.' She answered, 'my brother has gone with our parents to visit our relatives in Pattaya. They will be back on Friday or Saturday, I think.'
'Oh I see. So when will his welcome home party be? Will he be free when he comes back?' Tam asked.
'Not so sure though, Kam is asking that your engagement be held first, he didn't want to tire Khun Pa'Tu so much.' Dao explained.
'Why do you ask?' Sak asked.
Tam turned to Sak and answered, 'I was going to ask him to spend some time with me. We have not done so since he arrived from London. I missed him the past five years. We have not really talked much.'
Sak scratched his nose, while Dao raised her eyebrows and side-eyed Pop who merely shrugged his shoulders. 'Just you and Kam? What about us, bro? We missed him too. Why don't we just get together and have some fun like the old times.' Sak looked at Tam as he said this.
'Nah, I really want to have some time with Kam, no offense, guys. We can plan a get together after maybe.' Tam insisted. 'I haven't even had time to ask him how it was being away from us.'
'That is fine, I will tell him when he comes back home. He really wants to spend some time with your parents, aunt and uncle too. I heard him say he missed them so bad.' Dao agreed but from the sides of her eyes she could see Sak glaring at her and then frowning with a slight movement of his head from side to side.
Tam nodded his agreement at what Dao said. Sak cleared his throat, Tam slowly turned to him. 'You got something to say, Sak?'
'Oh, I was just going to suggest something for us to do, really, we have not been able to spend time together –Sak started to say but Tam interrupted him with, 'I said we can have it after I have spent some time with Kam too.'
Pop looked alarmingly at Sak and while Dao made a sound of distress before saying 'Hey, wait up and chill. We can have what both of you want know. What is this sudden competition for my brother's time? It is not as if he is going anywhere.'
'What is this insistence on spending some alone time with Kam?' Sak asked bluntly. 'Why should it be just with you and not with us? Do you have a problem with us that you don't want to waste time with us?'
'Why do I get the feeling that you are objecting to it my being alone with Kam, Sak?' Tam looked at Sak challengingly. 'Is there a problem with you if I spend some time with Tam without all of you present?'
