It has been almost two weeks since that event happened at the Supasun-Tay's house. Tam's spending the weekend at home this time, still swamped with work. He wanted to work at home at his own pace despite the workload rather than work at the office with so many people demanding his time. He admits that he barely gets any work done at all, his mind going over the different conversations he had with his friends and of course, the truth of the matter is that he really wanted to talk to Kam.
But destiny seemed to have other ideas; Kam was once more on a trip with his parents to visit relatives in other parts of Thailand. Dao said that they would be back for another week or so.
He went home with thoughts so chaotic and at the moment, there was no improvement at all. On top of it all, he still had to worry about Siri's temper tantrum the other day when he said that he was going to be working a lot for the next 2 weeks. He sighed at his annoyance on recalling how she slammed the phone while talking to him.
He turned when he heard a knock at his door and saw his mother enter with a plate of something. He smiled upon seeing her.
'Luk, I brought you some snacks.' His mae said.
'Khob khun krap,' Tam said while giving her a hug at the waist.
Tam picked up a piece of cookie from the tray that his mom brought in and bit into it. His mom looked at him and sighed, she sat down by his bed and watched her son while he eats.
Tam turned to her and smiled. 'Yes, mae?'
Khun Tip smiled back and said, 'I noticed that you have been working so hard the past days, luk. Are you doing okay? You are not getting too tired, right?'
'I am fine, mae,' Tam assured her.
'You should rest, too, luk. You can spend some time with your friends. I am sure they too need a break from work. Pa'Tu went by the Supasun-Tay's house to go over the plans for Kam's welcome party, but Khun Cha and Khun Tee were away with Kam visiting the grandparents. She called Khun Tee and she said that Kam had asked Pa'Tu to concentrate on preparing for you engagement party first, he didn't want Pa'Tu to overwork trying to cook for two celebrations.'
Tam sighed as he recalled that there was still the engagement party to plan. If he was to be asked, he preferred that the welcome party go first, after all, it had been weeks since Kam came home.
'Luk?' Khun Tip tentatively asked his seemingly absent-minded son.
'I am sorry, mae.' Tam apologized, 'It is just that I am so swamped with work right now, I barely have time to breathe, much less think about plans for the engagement party. If it is okay with Pa'Tu, you and she can plan it out and asked Siri what she wants or let her approve the plans.'
'Is everything all right, luk?' Khun Tip asked. 'I know you have been working home for a few weeks now, but I have not seen Siri come by at least once. I mean, I don't know how newly engaged couples behave now. I am not sure if they preferred staying away from each other which is not the norm for me, are you both too busy to spend time with each other? When I got engaged to your father, he couldn't bear to be away from me for a time. He would even try to climb up my window at night, if he was off from work very late just to see me before he sleeps.' Her mae smiled at the memory.
Tam smiled when he saw his mother smile. Ever since he was a little boy, for him his parents' relationship was the standard, the same can be said for his aunt Pa'Tu and uncle Soon, their relationship something he aspired to have. Both couples were in a very loving relationship. The third couple that he considers another standard to follow was the Supasun-Tays. Khun Cha looks so intimidating and scary the first time he had met him. Tam was sure that he ate kids for breakfast but as he got exposed to them, he saw a kind of relationship that is similar to his parents but unlike them at the same time.
