A/N: 100 reads?? You guys dont know how thankful I am

Mrs. Holdsworth had placed three plates out on the picnic table, and three forks were beside them, and three glasses stood filled with water, and one glass mug stood off center with water in it. Mrs. Holdsworth stepped out of her house and walked towards me waving at me. Was there a Mr. Holdsworth I didn't know of? Would he be eating with us?

"Hello there, Y/N, I assume your paper delivery to Mayor Silverglade went well?" She said reaching me. I dismounted my horse and nodded. "Good job on the billboard, by the way" Mrs. Holdsworth said sitting down on the picnic bench.

I heard the door open again and someone walked eagerly down the few stairs before placing a pie on the middle of the table. "Alex?" I asked dumbfoundedly. "Hi Y/N! I hope you didn't mind me coming to eat with you guys" She smiled and motioned me to sit down.

I sat beside her and she gracefully took the first slice. "I heard from Mrs. Holdsworth you're the one that turned off the horrid billboard?" Alex said taking a bite of her piece of pie and nodding towards the big sign that some GED workers were covering up with a big 'X'.

I nodded and took a bite out of my own pie as well. I saw Mrs. Holdsworth smile knowingly at Alex and she nodded in return. I furrowed my brows slightly and decided not to comment on it. Maybe Alex had helped make the pie and Mrs. Holdsworth had approved of it for all I knew.

"Where's your horse, Alex?" I asked her as she served herself a second slice. "Hm? Tin-can? He's at the stable with Maya" Alex explained with a mouth full of pie. We all sat in peaceful quietness as we ate the rest of the pie.

"This must've been a bit of a different pace than what else you've been doing around the island" Mrs. Holdsworth chuckled. I nodded. "It's nice being able to relax a bit too, I never expected this to come out of a broken ferry port." I sighed. "It's quite a different tempo here than back home." I continued.

Alex looked confused for a second. "You're going to stay here, though, right?" She asked furrowing her brows. "For summer vacation, yes, I'm planning on going back and to study at (dream college/uni)." Alex looked mortified, but tried her best to hide it.

"Alex?" I asked her and she shook her head gently and put on a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. "We gotta make your time here the best you've had then!" She smiled a sad smile and walked off towards the stables. "I don't think Alex wants me to leave." I murmured. "I think you're right about that, Y/N." Mrs. Holdsworth said placing a warming hand on my shoulder.

"I don't get it" I said, watching Alex's retracting frame pass around the corner and disappear into the stables. "Why is she so sad that I'm gonna leave Jorvik in a couple months? We barely know each other." My brows furrowed. "You'll get it soon enough, dearie." Mrs. Holdsworth said, removing the hand from my shoulder.

I watched her stack the dirty plates on top of each other. "Oh, and if it isn't too much of a bother, could you check how the bridge repair to the Harvest Counties are going? It's up by Nilmer's Highland" Mrs. Holdsworth said, going inside with her stack of dirty plates. "Sure, yeah" I mumbled distractedly.

I got on Rosie and rode down to the beach to get to Nilmer's Highland, in an attempt to avoid Alex. I caught a glimpse of her talking to Maya, as I sped past and went up the road to Nilmer's Highland
