Episode 2: The Lodge

Kenny and his people welcomed us in. After we set our stuff down thanks to me and Clem vouching for the cabin group, me and Clem went to the couch to catch up with Kenny. "Still wearing that dirty old thing, huh?" Kenny asked, flicking Clem's hat. "Half expected Lee to walk up with y'all. You were like peas in a pod." Kenny said. We was upset about Lee. "Ah, shit. Its just hard to not think about it." Kenny said.
"He saved me." Clem said.
"I knew he would." Kenny smiled. "Where have you been?"
"We were with Christa and Omid for the last two years. Omid was killed by a woman. We were separated from Christa. Then we let this group." Clem told Kenny.
"How did you get out of Savannah?" I asked.
"After i failed to save that fuckin' shitbird, Ben, i ran. I took a sharp left and escaped. I got lucky. Real lucky." Kenny said. "Spent a long time alone after that. It, uhh..." Kenny closed his eyes. We both felt very sorry for Kenny. "Then I met Sarita. Thank god. Gosh, its great to have you two back!"
"You guys catching up?" Sarita asked.
"Kids, this is my girl Sarita. Ain't she beautiful?"
"Nice you meet you, Y/n and Clementine." She said. Sarita took Sarah to work on the Christmas tree they had, and Luke and Nick helped Kenny with some stuff outside the lodge before the storm hits. Me and Clementine went to meet Walter and help him with dinner. "Hey Clementine and Y/n. Settling in okay?" Walter asked us.
"Yeah. So far." I said.
"So how do you know Kenny?"
"We're old friends." Clementine said.
"When he was with Lee? Yeah, he's told us a little." Walter said. "Connecting with people is important. I don't know what I'd do without Matthew." He said, mentioning his friend. Kenny told us about Matthew. All we know if that he likes to go on walks. "God, you remind me of my students." Walter said. "I can't imagine what its growing up in a world like this."
"Some folks underestimate us." I said.
"I expect you to use that to your advantage."
"Sometimes." Clem said. Walter smiled. "Smart." He went back to stirring the food in the pot and he gave it a taste test. "Hmm. Almost done. Would you do me the honor of tasting the first course?" Walter asked Clem. We looked in the pot and saw some type of beans with...peaches in them? "Looks...great." Clem said.
"It looks like mush." Walter said.
"No it doesn't, Walt. It looks great." I said. Walter looked at an empty can of peaches. "Huh. Striking resemblance." Walter showed us the can. It had the same girl that the can in the station had on it. I immediately got worried, and Clem's face told me she did too. Walter picked up the pot. "Well, I'll take it from here." Walter walked away. Me and Clem walked around the lodge. "Lets go look around. Maybe we can help Sarita and speak with Carlos." I said. I went upstairs to check in with Carlos, Alvin, and Rebecca. Clementine stayed down to work with Sarita and Sarah.
"They might be tracking us." I heard Carlos say.
"Tracking? What do you think they are, ninjas?" Alvin asked. They saw me. "Luke said Clem saw some people in the valley." Rebecca said.
"Well, it could have been anyone." I said.
"We cannot take any chances. We leave at dawn." Carlos said.
"But we're safe for tonight, right?" Rebecca asked.
"You talked to that man, Walter. What did he say? You didn't tell him anything about us, did you?" Carlos asked me.
"No. Me, Walter, and Clem just talked about Kenny."
"Kenny is the loud man with the beard?"
"I like his beard too, but I'd address him as loud man with a power 'stache." I said. "But yeah, thats him."
"I don't care what that man said. We're staying here tonight." Alvin said.
Carlos and Alvin went back downstairs. "Y/n?" Clementine called.
"Yeah, whats up, sis?" I looked over the balcony and saw her.
"Is there a tree topper up there?" She asked. I turned around saw a box with 2 tree toppers and an ornament, the toppers being an angel and a star. I grabbed the star. I went to the corner of the balcony and put the star on. "Beautiful. I used to love this time of year." Sarita said. I went back downstairs and met with Clem. I simply pulled her hat down a little and she immediately fixed it. We heard Sarita talking about Matthew. "Where is Matthew?" Clem asked.
"He likes to go on long walks. He and Walter used to vacation here." Sarita told us. "I wanted to ask you two, does Kenny seem different to you?" She asked.
"Seems like the same old Kenny to me." Clem said.
"Well, you four have been busy." Kenny said.
"Kenny! Isn't it great?" Sarita asked with a smile. She went to pick up a box, but Kenny took it. "Always has to play the gentleman. But I'll tell you, when I met him, he couldn't lift a fly." Sarita said. Me and Clem went back upstairs and spoke with Rebecca. "Everything okay?" I asked her.
"Just got a little dizzy." She told us. "I can'f even take care of myself. How am I supposed go raise a child?" She asked.
"I think its possible." Clem said.
"Yeah. We're still here." I said. Rebecca wiped her face. "If Alvin finds out its not his, he'll kill me. I can't believe I'm asking two kids for advice."
"He won't kill you." Clem said.
"You don't even know if its not his yet. Even if its not, I'm sure he'll still love the kid." I said.
"Theres my man." Rebecca said as Alvin came back. "You all right, baby?"
"I'm fine, you big dope." Rebecca said.
"Well everyone, dinner is served. Come on, lets eat." Walter said.
