Clementine had finally woken up. The color of het skin had been revived. "Thank God you're awake, Clementine." I said as we hugged. Her body was still a little cold, but I didn't really care. I was just happy she was okay. "Here. You should eat something." Jane said. She gave Clem a can of food. "Luke's just gone. It went by so quickly." I said.
"Goddamnit..." Jane said as she put her face in her hands. "I've lost people before, but it hasn't felt this shitty in a while." Jane said.
"He liked you too, Jane." Clem said. Kenny came in. "Great, you're awake." He said. "If you're up for it, i could use some help outside."
"Yeah. I'm in." Clementine said.
"Great. Y/n can come too." Kenny said. He left the room. "Heads up, sis." I tossed her her jacket. She caught it and put it on. We both went outside.

We went outside and saw Kenny. "Well, what'd she have to say?" He asked, referring to Jane.
"We didn't talk about you." Clem told Kenny.
"Really?"
"Yes."
We got to a truck. "I'm trying to get this thing working so we can drive out of here." Kenny said.
"So this is our like, third vehicle, not including the train? The RV, the boat, now a truck." I said.
"Yeah. Lets get to work." He said. Clem opened the door to the drivers side and got in the seat. I leaned against and truck and Kenny went to the hood. "Go ahead and give it a turn." He said. Clem looked at the key and turned it. The truck didn't start. Kenny kept working on it. "Wellington's gotta be out there." He said.
"We'll make it there." Clem said. I looked at an ornament in the car that said "Mexico" on it. "Why not make a pitstop at Mexico?" I asked.
"Why? You want a taco?" Kenny asked, smiling.
"Maybe. Maybe not." I smiled.
"I went there once with Kat before Duck came along." Kenny said. He moved his hands from the engine. "Give it another turn." He said. Clem turned it. Still no luck. "Did you turn it?" He asked.
"Yes."
"God DAMNIT!" Kenny kicked the truck. He shook his head. "We'll get it working." I said.
"Go ahead and head inside." Kenny said. "I don't trust leaving AJ with Jane." I nodded. Clem got out of the car. We both went to the door. "Go in and check on AJ. I'm gonna hang out here." I told her. She went inside. Bonnie was on the stairs smoking. I sat next to her. "You want a go?" She asked. I looked at the cigarette. "Fuck it." I grabbed it and took a puff, immediately regretting it. I pulled it away from my mouth and started coughing smoke. She took it back. "That was disgusting as hell and i regret doing that now." I said.
"I remember when Clem first saw me back at the lodge. 'Check her for weapons.' I liked her from the start." She said. "You ever done somethin' you regret? Even if its somethin' you knew you had to do?"
"I've been trying to have no regrets. It doesn't always work out." I said. She stayed silent for a minute. "You know...I'll say one thing about Luke. No matter where you ended up, theres always one bad seed rockin' the boat. But i don't think he woulda ever been that guy." She took another puff of her cigarette. "When's the last time anyone did what you wanted?"
"I think people respect me and Clem." I said.
"Well, good for you, buddy." She said. "You know, i've been all over. Run with a lotta people. A lotta men. And listened to a lotta promises." She said.
"Were some of the folks you ran with at Howe's, too?" I asked.
"Yeah. Vince, Russel, and Wyatt. Shel, and Becca. I tried to convince them to come with me, to come with us. They stayed behind at Howe's." She explained.
"Your point from before?" I asked.
"Ain't one of 'em promises come true. I'm startin' to think theres another way, you know." She said. She stood up and put her cigarette out. "You're a real charmer, you know that?" She said with a smile.
"Gee, thanks, Bonnie." I said. She walked away into the woods to do whatever. I hung out outside and eventually, the truck started running. "Holy crap." I whispered. Everyone ran outside. Bonnie came back and we went to Kenny. "So whats the plan?" Mike asked.
"We gotta find a place for AJ." I said.
"We should head back South." Jane recommended. "We're gonna freeze to death. We should head back to Howe's."
"Fuck that. I was thinking more like Texas." Mike said.
"Texas? The fuck?" Kenny asked. "I got this truck working so I saw where we're going, and we're heading north. We have to find Wellington."
"I'm with Kenny." Clem said.
"Yeah, we should head north." I said.
"What about Arvo?" Mike asked.
"Who, the Ruskie? He ain't coming with us." He said.
"Kenny's right, he's too dangerous to come with us. I mean, we're at the house, we don't even need him anymore." I said.
"I'm not going anywhere in the night." Jane said.
"Yeah, me either. There could be a herd out there." Mike agreed. Jane went inside. "Goddamnit!" Kenny shouted. He jumped inside the truck. Bonnie and Mike went inside. "You two gotta talk some sense into him." Mike told us. "For his sake."
We went to the truck and opened the door. "Get the fuck outta here!" Kenny exclaimed.
"Its us!" Clem said.
"Sorry, just...give me a minute." He looked at his eye. "Close the door." Clem went to the back and I went up front. "Can you believe it? I bring them a working truck and they act like I just shit in their cereal." He said.
"Well, why can't we just leave tomorrow?" I asked.
"Look, we got maybe a day's worth of food for that kid left. Think about Rebecca and Alvin. I mean, what if Lee didn't go tearing across half of Georgia looking for you? A lot of folks died for that."
"We know you're right, Kenny." Clem said. Kenny leaned against the truck door and let out a deep sigh. "I wish Lee was here... what do you think he'd say?" He asked.
"To keep the group together. And to keep my hair short." Clem said. "Speaking of which, you're doing well on cutting my hair."
"Did Lee tell you to make me cut it?" I asked.
"No, i told him i'd make you cut it." She said. I smiled and shook my head.
"You're right." Kenny said. "We can't just give up on this kid. Whats the point of going on after that? Thats what people like Lee knew, and people like Jane won't ever understand. I know Wellington might be bullshit, but where there's smoke, there's fire. Christa knew about it too, right?" We nodded. "When i first saw y'all back at that lodge, thought I was dreaming. When y'all sat with us and shared that meal...well, i could tell you were different. Grown up. I felt pride. A pride i hadn't felt in a long time." Kenny said.
"Something has to be out there." Clementine said.
"We'll figure it out in the morning." Kenny said. We got out the truck and went inside.
