not an arrogant player
I didn't like the fact that I knew who it was without even looking at him, I didn't like how I immediately recognised his scent, I didn't like how his one word, 'sweetheart' can turn my heart into a zoo. I didn't like the fact that deep down I knew I loved him.
I looked at his face and into his green eyes, his eyes blazed with an impassioned craving to want and to be wanted. Damn your eyes. I thought. Only for a brief second I looked down towards his lips, they were plump and a beautiful shade of pink. I looked back into his eyes and I swear to god I saw the tiniest hint of mischief in them.
"Are you okay?" He asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Yeah I'm fine." I said moving away from his grip.
I bent down and picked up the book that fell out of my hand and handed it to him. "Here check it" I said walking back towards the ladder, I didn't really want to climb up but I walked towards it regardless.
"Nah you check it, I wanna go up the ladder." He said, handing me the book, and climbing up the ladder.
It was like he read my mind, I was very thankful but I didn't want it to show on my face. I started checking all the books, I don't know why but something told me to look up at Eros, so I did.
Turns out his forest green eyes were already looking at me.
"What?" I asked him.
"I love you." He said calmly.
My heart turned into a zoo, again and my stomach was feeling weird. It was like it had made a knot by itself. I didn't believe him of course, I knew he was just kidding, he never actually loved anyone, he always played them. And I didn't want to be a part of his game. But a little part of me wanted it to be real and that automatically made me a part of his game.
"For sure, stop wasting time and search for the stupid book before that wizard avada kedavras us." I told him, instead.
"Whatever your thinking isn't true, Rue. I am not who you think I am." He replied completely ignoring my sarcasm.
"Fine, what are you like then?" I asked, accepting whatever he was offering.
"I am not the arrogant player you think I am. But here you are not believing me."
I had nothing to say, I didn't know what to say. I just looked at him, not believing this moment. "I am not like them, I am not a player." He said, his voice cracking.
"Eros, I, I want to believe you, but I'm not really sure who and what to believe right now. I might need to process this conversation." I continued reading the book in my hand after saying that.
I didn't really want to talk or think about Eros right now. I just wanted to get away from here. I wanted to crawl inside my bed again and just stay there until I had the courage to face life.
I didn't like confessions. I didn't like the fact that someone liked me when I didn't even like myself, I always felt the phrase 'I love you' is for those people who want something from the other, so they use 'love' as an excuse to get what they want. At least that was the case with me.
I continued reading the same line on the book for the hundredth time, I gave up and kept the book down and Looked at the bookshelf trying to find any book that could help us. "Rue, Eros!" I heard Carl yell.
"What?" Eros yelled back.
"We found a spell!" I heard him yell back back while rushing towards us.
They came to our side of the library and showed us the spell, "Keeper of what disappears, hear me now — open your ears. Find me what I now seek, by moon, sun, earth, air, fire and sea. Say these words, the object you seek shall appear." Diana read.
"Alright, who is going to do it?" Carl asked.
"Diana, you do it." Said Eros.
"Alright." She agreed.
"Keeper of what disappears, hear me now — open your ears. Find me what I now seek, by moon, sun, earth, air, fire and sea." She chanted.
"Where is it?" Carl asked.
"I think we are now supposed to search for it and we will find it, I'm not sure." I said.
"Ok." Eros replied.
I was the first to turn away to find the book, I looked at the shelves I didn't look at and I didn't find anything. I did find some interesting books that I wanted to read, but other than that it was hopeless. Eros was still on the ladder looking at the books, He picked up a book and flipped through it. He then got down the ladder and yelled, "Hey guys, I think I found it."
I got on my legs and walked toward him, Diana and Carl reached before me. When I reached there I asked to look at it and Eros handed it to me, I saw the cover, it said, 'the key and door manual.' I flipped through it and it looked exactly like a manual.
"I guess it is the one." I said handing it back towards Eros.
"Are we done here then?" Asked Diana.
"I guess so." I said.
We walked towards the wall that was the portal and Carl removed the sword from his bag and cut the portal and we walked out.
