"Guess I watch." I sighed as I sat on a rock big enough to hold my weight. I never really played chess, growing up I barely had anything to play. All I had were broken toys from my childhood that were never replaced. But I kept telling myself that I was lucky to even have those, many other kids don't even have broken toys.
Carl moved one of the front pieces and so did Diana, but she moved a different piece. I honestly had no idea what was going on, I tried to be focused but it wasn't working. A yawn escaping my lips, the last thing I remember was utter silence before my eyes closed.
Fire and smoke suddenly filling the room and my lungs, I immediately got up and took a better look around at my surroundings. All the human size chess pieces were in their places but they were burned or burning. Gizem had shapeshifted her tiny bird body into two long green wings on her back. They dragged behind her as she walked. She fluttered her wings and lifted into the air and created huge gusts of wings using her emerald green wings. She tried to extinguish the fire but the fire grew instead. Gizem's wings caught on fire and she came crashing down like a delicate bird.
Carl patted the fire off and rushed her to the side of the room big enough to be a hall. He lifted his hands and carefully healed her back. Her wings were gone and the burn mark was on her lower back. A loud thud landed not far away, the fire had grown to the point where huge chunks of rocks broke away from the ceiling and landed on the floor.
I frantically looked around for Eros, he stood and shit his usual fire balls at the gate. My legs started running towards him before I could stop myself.
"What's happening?" I yelled over the noise. He didn't respond so I did the next logical thing which was asking him again. I yelled louder this time, directly into his ear. Still nothing. I gave up and moved 5 steps backwards checking his body for any visible injuries. His suit was badly torn, his shoulders and thigh clearly visible blood trickling down his right shoulder, his pained expression breaking my heart.
I looked back at Carl and Gizem; Carl was still healing Gizem while ZDiana teleported any rock that would fall remotely near them. I pulled my attention back to Eros and thought I could try to help open the gate. I walked towards the gate and realised this wasn't a key gate. It had been locked from the other side. I picked up a rock and started hitting the lock keeping the gate closed. While hitting I caught something from the corner of my eye, I turned my head to face it. It was... me. I was scratching for something, bending and pushing rocks over while trying my best not to get hit by one. Then it clicked to me, This wasn't a nightmare, this could be the future. The horrifying future.
"Rue, Rue! Get up! Carl, get the water." Demanded a worried voice. My eyes slowly opened to meet Eros's, the worried green eyes pulling me back to the present again. A loud gasp escaped my lips as everything hit me back.
"Hey, hey. It's okay."Eros reassured me as he pulled me into his arms.
"Hear my heartbeat?" I gave a small nod.
"Focus on that." He said, instantly making me feel calmer than I was before. When I felt calmer, Eros asked.
"What the hell happened?"
"I think I saw the future." I whispered.
"What?" He said, almost confused.
I sat down and explained everything I saw to him, he sat beside me and listened patiently.
