"What's happening?" I asked Dajah as I stood next to her on the upstairs balcony that overlooked the backyard where there were a number of people in nice clothes milling around.

"Didn't he tell you?"

"Tell me what?" I didn't expect him to give me a heads up on whatever he did in his home but it would've been nice to know.

"He's having a dinner party." I had taken a sleeping pill and had been sleeping for most of the day. I suffered from insomnia so my doctor prescribed some sleeping pills for me but I didn't usually take them because I wasn't a fan of pills and I didn't want to make an habit out of it but I needed it today because ever since I saw my parents, it had been especially hard to sleep.

"Oh." I was now very hungry but I wasn't dressed for the occasion and I couldn't deal with running into any of my brother's friends. "I'm hungry though."

"Same."

"Call Kareem and ask him to bring something up for us."

"Y mi neva think bout dat? Silly me." She pulled out her phone and dialled his number to which he picked up almost immediately, and she put it on speakerphone. "Reem?"

"Yeah."

"We are hungry."

"Food downstairs suh come get something fi eat."

"But ppl dung deh."

"Not in the house, everybody is in the backyard."

"Yuh sure?"

"Yes Dajah."

"Okay." She ended the call and we headed back inside. "Suppose ppl dung deh?"

"We hide." I told her with a laugh and she shook her head.

"Yuh know seh wi fool tho cause y wi a hide from di ppl dem?"

"Cause rich ppl judgemental and that's a fact." We made our way down the stairs and down the hallway that led into the living room. "Clear so far." We walked the length of the living room and went into the kitchen where there were way too many people in the kitchen, none of them were guests so that was a plus.

"Sienna and Adajah?" One of the guys asked and I shook my head yes. "Mr. Ashman told me you were coming down to get some food."

"Yeah."

"We have a variety of food to choose from." He began uncovering the steel trays with food and there was way too much food. "What would you both like?" He grabbed two plates and stood waiting for us to tell him what we wanted.

"Daje?" I turned to her to ask her what she wanted but she wasn't paying attention to me, she was eyeing a guy behind the guy at the kitchen island and I smiled. "She'll have whatever I'm having." I told him what I wanted and he made both of our plates. "Adajah, here." I nudged her shoulder to snap her out of her thoughts.
