I rolled over in bed and reached for my phone that was ringing on the bedside table. I checked the caller ID to see that it was Dajah and truth be told, I didn't really want to talk but I answered the call anyway.

"Hey."

"Hi."

"Mi know dis a wah stupid question but mi still aguh ask anyways. Are you okay?"

"Hanging in there baby, how are you holding up?"

"I miss him."

"Me too but we need to be strong for him." I was in no position to be telling anyone to be strong when I was spiralling further down as the days went by.

"I can just hear him saying now." She laughed and I smiled even though she couldn't see me. "Dawg a bawl unnu really deh yah bawl ova mi? While I appreciate the concern, unnu know seh unnu cyaan get rid a mi suh easy doh."

"Even in a coma, him annoying."

"Yeah but I would give anything to hear him say it."

"Me too Daje, me too."

"I know this is a big ask but do you want to come over?"

"I don't know about that Adajah." There were way too many things over there that would remind me of him.

"Please Sienna?"

"Adajah."

"I really just need a hug and someone to talk to." I was trying to convince myself not to go but her voice sounded so vulnerable and I just wanted to comfort her even though I needed comforting.

"Okay, I'll come."

"Thank you."

"What about his mother?"

"She doesn't have a key."

"Are you sure?"

"Positive."

"Okay. Soon come." I ended the call and went to find something to wear.

What are the odds that I would run into Niko at KFC when I was purposely trying to avoid him.

"Sienna?" I pretended not hear him and continued talking to Adajah. "Sienna?"

"Yuh nah answer him?" She asked in a whisper and I shook my head no. "He's coming over here."

"Just pretend like yuh nuh si him."

"Yuh want wi just get a refund an leave?"

"No."

"Can we talk?" I ignored him and looked straight ahead. "I'm sorry."

"I bet you are." I still didn't look at him and he sighed. "Can you just leave me alone?"
