"To bloodclaat Guy." I heard him say as I pushed the door to the room open and realized that he was on the phone. "It look like a baay fucking incompetent rass people mi ave a duh mi business enuh an clearly mi need fi fire di wul a unnu."
I had never heard him curse at any of his employees, at least not in my presence.
"But Mr. Ashman—."
"Nuh Mr. Ashman nthn Guy cause mi supposed tuh can trust yuh fi send paperwork tuh a client an nah fi a fret seh, rass guy duh foolishness ." He was also typing so hard, I felt sorry for the laptop keyboard. "If mi affi a duh yuh job fi yuh, might as well mi keep mi money an send yuh guh a yuh yard."
"Sir, I asked Jeanette to go over the document and she said everything was fine."
"Anuh Jeanette a di manager enuh suh dat mean seh you neva re-read it fi mek sure everything good before yuh send it cross." Guy was a sweet middle aged man who was one of the cool managers in the office so it did make me feel kind of bad that he was at the receiving end of Kareem's possible anger and disappointment.
"I apologize sir, I will go over it and make the necessary corrections."
"Nuh mek it happen again cause mi cyaan a pay unnu fi a service an mi affi end up a dweet mi self. Is a good ting mi ask yuh fi send it tuh mi cause imagine sending that out to the client an mek di ppl dem think seh wi nuh know weh wi a duh." He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. "Just get it done and let me get it."
"Okay sir." He ended the call and tossed the phone on the bed before closing down the laptop screen.
He looked up at me and smiled a tired smile. "Hey."
"Hi." He put the laptop next to him and opened his arms. I dropped my bag on the bench infront of the bed and walked around to him. The bed was high so I didn't have to lean down far to hug him and he was slightly sitting up.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and he wrapped his arms around my waist.
"I missed you." I pulled away slightly and I kissed him. "I was calling you." He said once we pulled away and I walked back to my bag to pick it up.
I needed to put it on my list to go to the house to get the rest of my clothes but I wasn't mentally prepared to be there for an extended period of time.
"My phone died before I left the office and I didn't realize." I seemed to have misplaced my charger and I was too lazy to go order one. "Can I use your charger again?"
"It's in the living room and you can't be out with a dead phone and no charger."
"I know, I promise to get one by this weekend."
"Okay." I walked into the closet and put my bag down before grabbing a clean towel so I could go take a shower. "How was your day today?"
"It was okay." I walked out of the closet and it crossed my mind to ask about the conversation that I walked in on. "It's not really my business still but you don't think you could've handled that situation with Guy a little bit better?"
