I sat across from the doctor in complete shock because there was just no way in hell that I was pregnant, I couldn't be because we didn't plan for this.
"Can you repeat it one more time because I'm not sure I heard you correctly?"
She took both of my hands into hers and smiled. "Sienna, you are pregnant and it's not the end of the world."
"Life nuh like mi at all Doctor Adams."
"Is your boyfriend not the baby's father?"
"Fiance and yes he is but we've never had the conversation about kids before so I don't know how he's going to take it, if he's going to want it."
"Congratulations on your engagement and the only way to know how he'll react is to tell him. You can then know what your next steps will be after you get his reaction."
"You're right." I relaxed a little and we spent the rest of the time going over next steps and the things I could look forward to plus my next appointment. °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
I sat up on my knees in the bed and stared at him as he typed away at his laptop. I had the test results in the pocket of my robe and I was thinking up the best way to say it to him but I was coming up short.
"Yes Sienna?" He asked without looking up from his screen and I rubbed my palms against my robe to dry them because they felt sweaty and I didn't carry sweaty hands.
"Hi."
"Five hundred thousand good or yuh need more?"
"I don't want money babe."
"Then what?"
"If I told you I was pregnant, what would be your reaction?" That caused him to look up from the laptop and the test results in my pocket suddenly felt like they weighed a ton.
"Happiest man alive but yuh nuh pregnant suh mi cyaan react tuh it."
"I actually am pregnant, surprise!" I took the envelope from my pocket and held it out to him.
"Wah dis?"
"Open it." I watched him as he opened the envelope and took the sheet of paper out. He unfolded it and I watched him read through it before he looked up at me.
"We're having a baby?"
"We're having a baby." I couldn't explain how relieved I felt seeing his face light up and him reaching for me. I closed the laptop screen down and moved it to the side before I climbed onto his lap straddling him.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and he wrapped his arms around my waist. "Yuh just come inna mi life an a bless mi. Mi nuh think mi aguh eva able fi repay yuh fi all a dem blessings yah."
"Mi think yuh did aguh hate mi."
"There is nothing weh yuh can eva duh fi mi hate yuh suh y yuh would a think dat?"
