"The dance is literally tomorrow and we have nothing to wear!!" Alice groaned leaning back into her bed. "Why don't we just go get dresses from the mall then" I shrugged, watching the movie that was playing on her tv.
"Like now?" She turned over and looked at me. I nodded, smiling slightly. She quickly sat up and jumped out of her bed, grabbing her beat up vans and putting them on. I rolled my eyes and put on my shoes and a hoodie because it was kind of chilly out.
We quickly rushed out of the house. And practically ran to the mall since Alice didn't have a car.
Arriving at the mall, and out of breath, we quickly walked inside. "Wait..." Alice paused "what Store here sells dresses??" She questioned,
"Uhh, I don't know, let's just walk around till we find one" I shrugged. "Alright" Alice then quickly grabbed my arm and began to run, dragging me with her.
"S-Slow down!" I struggled as she ran to the elevator with a strong grip on my arm. Coming to an abrupt stop, she pressed the up button tapping her foot impatiently. We stared at our reflection on the metal door until it opened. We stepped inside the elevator, noticing two guys facing the glass, and watching the people below.
"What floor are we going to" I asked, looking over at Alice. She shrugged and pressed the button for the 3rd floor. Unsure of what to say everyone stood in an awkward silence, until one of the guys turned around.
Me and Alice looked over at him. I quickly recognized him. "Ryan, hey" I smiled at him. He returned the gesture, "hey y/n, Alice" he looked in her direction. she nodded at him.
It went silent for a bit until Ryan looked over the the other guy, "oh, this is Brendon. I'm showing him around the town, he just moved here two days ago." He motioned towards the brunette.
He smiled lightly, looking dead at me, "nice to meet you, I hope the town treats you well." I said. I looked at the floor, feeling uncomfortable. I could feel his eyes burning into me.
As if on cue, the elevator door opened. I quickly grabbed Alice's arm and walked away.
"He seems weird, I think we should stay away from that dude" Alice said. I nodded in agreement. Then I noticed down the large hall, 3 mannequins, wearing dresses.
"Look!" I pointed at the glass window. "Let's go" Alice began speed walking a head of me, rushing to the store. I soon caught up to her at the entrance of the shop.
We walked in and looked around at all the dresses on the walls and shelves. "LOOK AT THOSE!" Alice's pointed to a shelf with short-ish dresses. We walked over to them as she felt the fabric.
"Ohhh the texture is nice" she smiled at the dress. "Let me feel" I touched the dress, feeling the soft silk on my fingers "wow" I said more to myself. "Let's try them on" she giggled, taking one of the dresses off the hanger.
I grabbed a black dress, as he went towards the dressing rooms. We each went into different stalls to change, "tell me when you're done and I'll come out" she said. "Alright"
I pulled the dress over my legs and over my chest. I zipped up the back and looked in the mirror.

I stared at my reflection, it didn't look bad. The black complimented my hair color. I smiled as I fiddled with the door of the changing room. "I'm done hurry up!" I tapped on the door of the changing room that Alice was in.
"Okay! Okay!" She opened the door and came out. "You look amazing" we both said at the same time, causing us both to break out into laughter. "I think these are perfect" she said.
"Definitely" I said excitedly, going stepping back into the dressing room so we can check out sooner. Taking off the dress, and putting my clothes back on I walked out of the small room. "Are you done yet?" I asked Alice.
"The zipper on the dress is stuck give me a minute." She said "do you need any help?" I asked stepping closer to the changing room. "No no it's okay I got it" she said.
"Alright I'll be out here" I stepped out of the changing area and began walking around, a little unsure what to do in the moment. "Hey!" I turned around, unsure who was calling me.
Ryan's friend Brendon came walking up to me. "Y/n right?" He asked. I nodded awkwardly. "I'm Brendon, remember?" He said with a cheeky smile. "Yeah I remember you" I looked up at the ceiling not wanting to talk to him.
"So why are you here?" He asked, following me as I tried to walk away. "Oh, me and Alice were getting dresses for the dance." I mumbled. "Oh cool, Ryan bought a suit for the dance, but it was too big so he's returning it and getting a smaller size" he pointed over at Ryan talking to a worker across the store.
"Oh cool.." I fiddled with the dress, looking down at my hands. His gaze followed mine, "is that the dress you're buying?" He asked. I nodded, "Can I see?"
"Sure." I said uncomfortably handing him the dress. He held the dress in front of him, examining it. "It's a quite short" he paused, moving the dress and holding it up to my body. "But I like that. I think you'll look really good in it, I might just have to ask you to dance." He chuckled to himself.
I didn't know what to say, but thankfully I felt a hand on my shoulder, it was Alice. "That dress did not want to come off" she sighed. She looked at me then at Brendon, "I think we should get going, yeah?" She said. "Uh yeah" I grabbed the dress from Brendon as we went over to the cashier.
We left the store after buying the dresses, "he's a creep" I mumbled. Alice looked over to me, looking concerned, "did he say something?" She asked, and I explained everything.
Ew brendon go away tf 🤦♀️
