Freya was sewing a dress for the queen. She had kept her head down after Frigga had questioned her on the necklace. She had to explain everything. Even though the queen knew who they were and why they were there.
Frigga understood, she had been friends with Astrid for a long time, and she knew all the details.
Freya had received the necklace from Astrid, on the night she had told them to leave the house and go to the palace. Cloaking them before they left. Freya knew it would block Arias powers and freeze her original memories of her mother. It was cruel, but necessary for Aria.
Freya didn't have a choice.
All Freya could do now, was wait for him to show up, to try and take Aria. She knew the moment Aria used her powers, it wouldn't take him long. Many times, Freya had been tempted to tell Aria everything. So it would put her on her guard. She could maybe stop him, but she just couldnt bring herself to do it.
The longer this went on, the harder it was for Freya to tell her anything.
Freya listened to the mindless chatter around her, wondering what Aria was doing in school. When she heard a scream inside her head, then she felt the palace floor vibrate.
She looked around at everyone, but nobody seemed to noticed.
Apart from Frigga.
Frigga stood up from her chair, looking concerned.
"Excuse me ladies. Lady Freya, can you come with me" She said.
Freya put down the fabric and they headed out of the chamber.
"My lady, what is it?" Freya asked.
Frigga paused in the hallway outside of her chambers. About to explain what it had been. When Loki came running around towards them.
She knew that he had felt it too.
"Mother" He paused. "Its Aria"
Freya could have collapsed.
"Where?" She asked him.
"I dont know. I cant find her. Somethings wrong though"
Frigga looked around, seeing Freya was on the edge of panic.
"Freya, I want you to go and sit with the other ladies, until we find her" She ordered.
Loki watched as his mother didnt hesitate, walking away from Freya. He ran to catch up with her.
"Mother, she could be anywhere" He explained.
"Yes, but I know one person who can locate her" She said.
Loki was confused, but he followed her to a house nearby. He hadnt noticed this place before. Close to the palace, but ordinary.
Frigga knocked and then waited.
The door opened, Loki looked over at the large, dark-skinned man, who quickly stood up straight, when he saw the guests.
He looked worried.
"My queen. Prince"
"You know why Im here Heimdall. We need to find Aria"
He realised what they were saying.
"That was Aria?" He breathed.
Frigga nodded.
Heimdall stepped aside, letting them into his home. Loki took a moment and looked around. Thinking how it wasnt much to look at on the outside, but it was beautifully decorated.
Lokis eyes landed on a photo on a table. At first he thought he was looking at Aria, until he realised this woman was older.
He turned to look at Heimdall, watching as he focused his eyes, causing them to turn gold.
"The field behind the palace. Shes out. Not conscious. My queen, but she is alive" Heimdall said.
"Come with us" Frigga said.
"I cant"
Frigga placed her hand on his, looking into his eyes, Loki watched as Heimdall seemed to be seeing something. Something he didnt like.
Loki paused at the large field, seeing something lying in the middle. He ran through the grass, dropping down beside her. Relieved to find she was indeed, breathing.
Frigga reached her, waving her hand over Arias body, checking her.
"Shes hurting" Frigga looked at Loki. "We should get her back to the palace. Heimdall, would you?"
He scooped her up into his arms, then carried her up towards the palace.
Aria slowly opened her eyes, seeing the cave once again, the small fire in the middle. And the man was sat wrapped in furs. He was smiling. Looking right at the place where she was standing.
"Will you join me?" He asked.
Aria was confused.
Was she in this mans company?
Could he see her?
"I know you are there. I can feel your magic"
"What do you want?" Aria asked, frightened.
"Just you"
He shifted a little in his seat, leaning forward so she could see him. See his face.
Aria gasped, realising she had met this man before.
"Me?" She whispered.
"If you join me, we can take down Asgard. Dont you want to get revenge for what happened to your mother Aria?"
"I think you have the wrong person"
He stood up, shaking his head.
"You dont even remember" He walked over.
Aria felt something touch her face, like a chill, she realised it was his magic.
"Aria, sweetheart, its going to be okay"
She looked around, hearing the queen. As she thought about Frigga, the cave began to fade and other noises became clearer.
It was the next day before Aria woke up. She found Freya sitting on the chair, beside her bed. She looked exhausted.
"Where am I?" Aria asked.
Freya looked around, about to reach for her hand, then changed her mind.
"Medical ward. Are you okay?"
Aria sat up, rolling her eyes.
"Nothing I cant fix by cursing someone for lying to me" Aria said.
Freya looked worried, opening her mouth to try and begin to explain.
"How could he do that to me? How could he pretend to be my friend. Trick me?"
Freya realised she wasnt talking about her. She was talking about Loki.
"Is that what happened? Aria, did Loki do this to you?"
"No. He just pretended to be my friend. A bet with the class to see how long he could keep up the pretence"
"that doesnt explain how you ended up in that field"
"I was upset. Angry. I let my powers get out of control. I must have passed out because of it. The queen said it could happen sometimes"
Freya realised how much danger they were in now. Wondering how long they had until he came for them.
