Chapter XXIX

"I'm afraid."

Vera's stare immediately went sharp on Andrei who was fidgeting on her front.

"Why?" Vera's tone was condescending, halatang hindi nagustuhan nito ang sinabi ng asawa. "I'm the one whose going to carry the child, not you. Tapos ikaw ang natatakot?"

Andrei nodded frantically, admitting Vera's statement. "Eh pano kung mapaano ka?" She asked, her eyebrows knitted together.

Vera rolled her eyes. "I will be okay, Andrei. Don't you want us to have a family?"

"We are family. You and me." She answered almost immediately.

Vera got more irritated with what Andrei said.

"Don't you want us to have a family?" She asked again na para bang pag tumanggi pa ito ay katapusan na ng buhay niya.

Andrei gulped, namumuo na din ang pawis sa kanyang noo. It's not that she doesn't want to have a family with Vera, it's just that she's too afraid. She searched instances on the internet and there's a high chance that going into labor will be dangerous for the wife. And she can't afford to lose her wife.

That nightmare she had a couple of weeks ago, it gave her trauma. Mas takot na itong mawala si Vera. Kung maari lang ay kahit sa pag ihi ay kasama siya nito.

She sighed, "Will you be able to handle the pain?" Andrei asked instead.

Vera's eyes softened as she realized why Andrei was having second thoughts. She scooted her chair closer to Andrei.

"I will." She reassured her.

"I don't want to lose you." Andrei admitted at yumuko na lang.

To some people, she might be overreacting but she doesn't care. She's just being careful.

"You won't, baby." Vera reached for her wife's hand that was lying on her lap. She squeezed them, "We'll get through this together."

Finally, Andrei lifted her chin and smiled at Vera then she nodded. There was still a hint of doubt in her heart but as her wife said, they'll get through this together.

"Come on. Hinihintay na tayo sa shop." Yaya ni Vera at hinila si Andrei sa kinau-upuan.

Andrei groaned at pinanlakihan siya ng mata ng kanyang asawa. This is the part where she gets irritated.

"I want to wear a tuxedo." She whispered, finally.

Nung mga nakaraang araw ay pilit siyang pinapapili ng gown but Andrei didn't want that ngunit hindi lamang nito masabi sabi dahil sa hiya.

"Why didn't you tell me so?" Vera asked, still walking towards her car. "You know you can wear whatever you want." She added. "That explains why Aubrey gets so much headache." Vera chuckled.

"Really?!" Namilog ang mga mata ni Andrei na ngayon ay nakatitig kay Vera. She's smiling from ear to ear kaya naman napatawa si Vera sa mukha ng asawa. She nodded, "Thank you!" Andrei hugged Vera out of excitement.

"Ang babaw ng problema mo." Vera hugged back.

"Si Hestia kasi nag i-insist na mag gown ako. Edi siya na magpakasal."

"Your sister is just teasing you. I thought you want to wear a gown as well."

Andrei rolled her eyes. Kumalas siya sa pagkakayakap kay Vera at hinila na ito sa kamay. Inalalayan niya itong makapasok sa passenger's seat.

"Where do you plan on picking your tuxedo?" She asked after awhile of silence.

They're driving to a gown botique where Vera and Andrei's sister would meet. Hestia insisted this botique because she knows the owner and baka maka discount daw sila.
