"Sha'Kera, you know Alex." Lexi pointed at my ex. I waved. He winked at me. "This guy right here is a good friend of ours."
"Jordan Baschet." I planted my hands on my hips. "Now what are you doing in Manhattan?"
"You know him?"
"Yeah. He works with Derek at the hospital. Well, he did when we were last here."
"Yeah, I still do." Jordan chuckled. "It's good to see you again, Sha'Kera. I didn't think you and Derek would ever come back."
"Derek wasn't planning on it until he heard Hayden was finally being recognized as a surgeon."
Everyone laughed. They knew about the ongoing feud between my husband and my ex-husband. It was always the talk of the party whenever we hung out. If someone brought up jobs, then we had to ask Derek and Hayden how work at the hospital was going.
"How's Jonathan?" I asked Alexander. "We all haven't heard from him in a while."
"Still recovering from what he did..." Alex frowned a little. "He said he was in town. Since it isn't football season anymore, he asked if we could be brothers again."
"That's good."
I turned to Jordan and looked him up and down. He had definitely grown. He wasn't much older than me, but he looked ten times younger. He wasn't married nor was he dating. He always preferred to work alone and was stuck in his penthouse 24/7. He had been traveling when Derek and I announced our plans to head to Egland. He had called Derek and said where he was, but he hadn't told us when he'd be back in America.
"How have you been?" I asked. "How's your family?"
"I've been doing really, really great. My family is fine. My parents are still trying to get me to date, so they'll have grandchildren, but it's not gonna work," Jordan explained. "I just don't care for a spouse. If I'm fifty by the time I marry, then too bad."
"Your parents might be dead by then."
"Exactly."
Lexi, Asher, and Alexander cracked up at this. Jordan wasn't a bad looking guy. Every woman who has ever dated him, fell for him hard. If only he had been looking for someone to show off to his family. Some of the women were good women, too. I just felt bad for how he denied them a happy ending with him.
"Hey, we should all go clubbing or something," Lexi suggested. "I need the fun and Asher doesn't seem to know what that means."
"Let me take you on tour," I said.
"You're so funny. I don't want to go with you."
"Why not?"
"Because the last time I went, I didn't even get to sing. Your fans begged me for my autograph and I didn't make it on stage in time."
"That was hilarious. But you won't be singing anyhow. I'd get you your own room to watch the show from there."
"You're so nice, but no."
Abby and Tamera finally joined us. They're arms were full of clothing they probably snatched off the racks. They were like that. I half expected them to do that. Meline and Bianca were right behind them with their arms not nearly as full. They were humble like that. I actually liked that about them.
"Marcus called." Abby threw the clothes on the counter. "He wants to see the girls. I tried to tell him we were having girl time, but he threatened to make me get friendly with his hag of a cousin."
"Oh, you really married Marcus?" Lexi asked.
"I did."
"Well...sucks for you."
