Yes... that was right, what about Evelynn? The eyes that bore on me, beckoned me to look at them. Turning my head to finally meet the gaze, it wasn't what I had expected. Those golden orbs that I thought would express worry or at least some form of concern to be present... wasn't. I saw nothing, no concern, no worry, no apprehension, no emotion. But, it did tell me one thing, as long as yesterday had been and as much as we may have bonded, we barely knew each other.

The wall made of something I couldn't tell stood tall in front of me. It acted like a looming reminder of just how high I'd need to climb to see the truth, though, that was if I decided to start in the first place. I wasn't sure what to do. On one hand, I've finally been given the chance my family dreamed of, on another was a girl I've taken responsibility for, but what that responsibility entailed was a bigger concern in and of itself.

"Well, enough of that."

And just like that, Micheal had cut the tension like a hot knife through butter. I instantly felt myself relax. While there was an urgency in choosing and whatever I do will have consequences, I know to take things one step at a time.

"That's not something to bother ourselves with now."

Micheal seemed to turn lethargic, more so as if he had all the time in the world. He looked oddly at peace, which was rare considering that no matter how he'd smile or laugh, even joke, something always seemed off like there was a piece missing. Now? He looked complete.

Why?

I'd reason it was because he could finally get out of here, it was the only thing that made sense. Thus, that was what I sated my curiosity with.

"We're not on a timer, as long as we got these, we're ensured."

He got up from his lazy posture and walked to the room closest to us.

"Y/n, if things go well, you'd finally get to realize their dream."

His retreating back made me open my mouth before I realized it.

"And what if they don't"

I uttered. It reached him and made him stop. Although, he didn't turn to face me.

"Then... you might have to go with what they wanted instead."

I didn't grasp a lick of what he said. So, seeing as how I was already this far in, I'd commit.

"What? What's that supposed to mean?"

He continued walking, right before he entered the room, however,

"It's not something I can tell you, it's more for you to experience."

With that, he left my vision. Sometimes I couldn't help but get annoyed by how cryptic things were with him. I'd bet he was trying to be an old wise man or some corny stuff like that. Although, now that he left. I had to confront someone I was worried about.

"So... Evelynn... um, what are you thinking about?"

I turned my head to look at her while I spoke, but her eyes still weren't on me. For that matter, they didn't look like they were focusing on anything at all.

"Hmm? Well, just wondering about the future is all. Which brings me to a question... what are you going to do, darling?"

This time she finally took a break from her thoughts and faced me. The fact she still called me darling was slightly relieving, she wasn't as fazed as I thought she'd be, or maybe this was an act? Ugh, the intricacy of emotions is troublesome. Regardless, I answered with the best conclusion I thought of.
