It's been a week or so since the incident. It's been hard admittedly but we're getting by. To me, Micky was a mentor and a teacher but more importantly a father figure. He taught me most of what I know, whether it be how to make money, survive, fight, cook, you name it, he probably taught me at least a little bit of it. The first few days I spent crying. It's not something I'd like to admit, especially since I know it's not what he would have wanted but I couldn't help it. During that time, thankfully, Eve stepped up and got us what we needed. Shelter, Food and some other basic necessities.
She also told me something important, apparently, Micky was awakened. She told me that he didn't tell her when it happened but that he did have an attribute, a natural one. It was how he knew what was coming and what was going to happen. I could only guess as to what it was but from all the evidence, it had something to do with the future. As amazing as that sounded, it didn't save his life. Whether it was because we were too weak to make use of it or it was limited in ability was something we would never know. In any case, the one item we did have that had value was the orb we used to teleport. Although, it seemed to have lost its power. We tried using it again to test it but it didn't respond. While we could have thrown it away, I reasoned that it was better to keep it, just in case.
And all of that led us to our current situation. The place Micky described to Eve was near where we set up base. He made her teleport us to a graveyard. If he knew someone that was buried here, I didn't. After collecting our thoughts, we moved around to explore. We were in one of those cities I never thought I'd see. With high rising buildings, city skylines and lights that seemed to light up the heavens at night. It was straight out of my books. It was soo densely populated too. There were more people in place than I'd ever seen back at home. We later found out what the place was called, "Korea". While it sounded familiar, I didn't recall where it was on the map. But there was one big problem, We didn't know the language, at all.
"Darling~, I've got food.", Eve brought me out of the book I was writing in. Perfect timing too, It was just about lunchtime if the clock we had was working properly. "Coming!", putting my book down, I kept it on my desk and headed out of my room. We were staying in an old abandoned apartment, there were other tenants but they didn't bother us much. At least I think so, as I said, I didn't really understand them. "Hi Eve." I greeted her, "Good morning, you slept like a log.", She said as she served both of us the food she brought. "Sorry, I wanted to go with you this time but I guess my body didn't agree..." I admitted somewhat bashfully, Eve didn't really seem to mind though. "It's alright, but I've noticed something, haven't you been getting taller?" She said absentmindedly. "Really?" It's not something I paid attention to but if she said so, then it might be true.
"I remember you being quite a bit shorter than me, you're around my height now." She confirmed it by standing up and meeting my eyes. "Well, that means the sleep isn't for nothing then. Let's eat for now, okay?", Taking her seat again, she motioned for me to do the same and I complied. Lunch went by with some small chat here and there but nothing in particular. It was worth noting that within those weeks I spent barely doing anything, Eve changed a bit. She seemed different, I couldn't name what it was but there was definitely a change. It was like she felt more protective? I don't know if that fits but I'll work with that for now.
With lunch finished, she told me she'd be taking a nap. I supposed work was a bit tiring for her, so I made no objection. We found part-time jobs here and there but the most common was one of labour, some time through it, Eve found that she could disguise herself to a more rough appearance, even looking like a common man with later attempts. It helped keep her safe from unwanted eyes and find employment easier. I, on the other hand, had difficulty getting people to make me work for them, they thought I was too young for it and my body would give out before I even completed anything, not to say that they were completely wrong but it still hurt. Well in any case, right now, as Eve went to bed for her short rest, I was left with nothing to do. Deciding it'd be better to move around than stay stuck doing nothing, I grabbed some presentable clothes we either found or stole and headed out.
