The past few days have worn out the entire family

The past few days have worn out the entire family. In the morning, I told Harry that I and Aurora wouldn't be coming for a while. He didn't object too much - even told me that he'd find somebody who would replace us.

I took advantage of those few days off. It was great not to think about the owner of the Red Lions Space.

Guided by the intentions of my uncle and mother, I had to quit my job. Sure, I was sad and tried to defend myself, but every time I stood up to my mother's requests, Aurora's apathetic face kept crawling up into my mind once again.

I had to quit.

I crawled out of bed, got dressed, put on my makeup, and knelt downstairs. Mom and Aurora were sitting in the living room and talked in whispers.

When they saw me on the stairs, they suddenly became silent.

"Listen, if my birthday is only a few days away, there's no need to become so secretive about it. I don't want to celebrate it anyway," I said.

"This birthday is the most important", mom shook her head lightly.

I knew why this birthday was the most important.

Even though twenty-one is the age of psychological maturation and adulthood, it meant more to me. To Sophia. She was convinced that if Satan itself hadn't caught me yet, he'd stop.

It was a great relief for my mother, and I wanted to see her happy - therefore, I had to wait for this day of so-called salvation.

"Please, don't plan anything dramatic. Nothing special," I threatened them with my hands bursting out of laughter.

Mom and Aurora jumped off the sofa and squealed with joy.

As for Aurora, she felt better every day. The police accepted her statement and stated that they would start a pre-trial investigation after collecting evidence and witness statements. If necessary, this will turn into a legal process. We were all overjoyed not only for that Aurora's moral damages would be compensated, but also because the additional money wouldn't hurt us.

Suddenly my phone rang, so I picked it up.

"Hi, Gabriela. I hope you're doing fine. Listen, I hate to ask, but can you come today?" Harry asked on the other end of the line.

"Why? You know that I have a day off and I'm soon going to leave the job," I nervously mumbled into the phone.

"I know, but the fact that Aurora isn't working now puts a lot of pressure on the staff's schedules. I understand the situation and I am not asking for it, but your help would be very useful. We need you tonight - this is an urgent request."

Urgent request?

"Whose?", I asked mockingly.

"It doesn't matter. You won't even need to work - just to represent the image of the club, the guy muttered.
