We passed through the main hall into the living room. Finally, among the faces of the people, I saw the long-awaited figures of my family.
My relatives looked wonderful.
My mother was dressed in a long black dress, and my uncle wore a gray suit. Nearby them stood Aurora. She was wearing a short cocktail dress, that adjusted her curves.
Patrick gracefully let go of my hand, so I rushed towards my family members. I rushed towards them without a glance and buried myself in my mother's embrace.
"How are you, sweetie?" she wrapped her hands around my shoulders and murmured in my ear.
"I'm fine, Mom," I said, stepping back from my mother and hugging my uncle, and kissing Aurora on the cheek.
"So, how's the party? When and how did you arrive?"
"Everything is fine, Elijah brought us. I don't know whose idea it was, but I liked arriving in a limousine," Aurora chirped in.
"How do you feel? Is everything alright?" my uncle's voice quietly asked.
"Yes, everything is fine," I replied, hiding my frustration. I didn't want to lie to my family, saying that the longing for home was gripping me more and more each day. I missed my old, restless life where I wasn't haunted by the image of Leonardo, but I couldn't shake the feeling of excitement.
"And where is Mr. D'Angelo?" my mother murmured.
I shrugged, but then murmured, "He'll come eventually."
My uncle and mother exchanged suspicious glances.
"Isn't he taking care of you as he promised? You know, protecting you on the clock?"
"He is," I smiled weakly, "when he can't do that himself, I'm under Patrick's surveillance." I pointed to Patrick's figure in the crowd.
"Well, I hope they are treating you well," my mother said with a note of sadness in her voice.
I shrugged. At that moment, Aurora squeezed my hand and urged me to go with her. I excused myself from her father and my mother and rushed to the corner of the living room. She sat on the sofa in the living room corner and looked at me curiously.
Her gaze was intimidating.
"So, how is it?" she finally started to ask.
"What do you mean?" I acted confused.
"Leonardo. How is he?"
"What do you expect me to tell you? As I already said, nothing happened," I lowered my eyes to the floor.
She looked at me for a second when finally the smile spread through her face.
"You're lying," Aurora clicked her lips.
