I could feel Gabriella's confused eyes following my every step. I could sense the folds of my jacket that floated gracefully in the air while I stormed down the stairs.

As I reached downstairs, Elijah screamed in and cursed.

Gosh, the moment was ruined.

I could already feel how she'd wrap around my finger.

Elijah shot right through the main door.

I was almost holding her with my lips.

I got into a car waiting near the main Red Lions Space entrance. Elijah slid near the driver and the car moved.

We burst through the streets of Manhattan towards Brooklyn.

The journey seemed to last for an eternity – even the exhortations directed to the guy in the front didn't work.

The driver knew what had happened.

Thoughts stirred and mixed with sudden emotional changes in my head.

From the aggression, that surrounded the whole world to the despair, that ripped my throat.

Dante is shot.

I leaned back in the seat and sighed. My nails slammed into my palms. It felt like a vein popped in my forehead.

I swear if something happens to that idiot...

Dante was the only person in this world who supported me through everything. He wasn't just my main man, my right hand, but also he was my friend. Even when none of us knew the futility of this cruel world, we shared a few laughs or those stupid toys in the sandbox.

As we grew older, the toys we had changed.

Now we could buy them, sell them, ship them, or use them for far more disgusting purposes. And with the ugliest metal pipes flooding with lead, we were able to take away the life that belonged to another person.

Dante Adams is the only person worthy of respect if he dares to call himself a friend.

The driver pressed the brake pedal along the industrial building. I jumped out of the car slamming the door afterward.

As I made a majestic step toward the entrance of the headquarters, I burst the metal door with far too much force.

"WHERE'S HE?" I yelled.

The young man, who was standing by the sidewalk, pointed his forefinger to the left side of the corridor. I hurried towards the spot.

As I ran into the service rooms, I saw a view from which I reluctantly gasped.

Dante's body lay on the couch. The silhouettes of the two girls were swarming on the sidelines. They nervously tried to stop the blood from the man's belly. The smell of medical spirits hovered in the air and gnaws at the nose.
