After a couple of hours Leah and I were ready. The black short dress framed my figure in the tightest places and barely covered my knees. Leah just winked at me, when she saw my distress. For my comfort, I kept pinching the dress.
Sophia and Miranda looked were waiting for us downstairs. The four of us looked at each other and headed for the door. Aurora screeched as she munched on her chips on the sofa.
"Have fun! Oh, and please, come back as you are. No boys."
We all stopped for a moment and glared at her, unable to hold back our laughter. On my way out the door, I wished her a good time with Elijah.
Aurora's sarcastic humor oozed over the edges these days, but I still couldn't help but remember what had happened in Red Lions Space and how it had affected the girl.
I hoped that the physical abuse did not affect her relationship with Elijah. She felt and looked better.
I crossed the threshold of the door and headed towards Leah, who was already urging me to get into a taxi. The disgusting man who wronged Aurora came to my mind again, so I clumsily settled into the back seat. At the steering wheel, all I saw were soft, blue-tinted, female eyes, so I sighed with relief.
The driver eagerly chatted with us as we moved through the streets of Manhattan. When we arrived at Four Seasons restaurant, we got out of the taxi and left a generous tip for the lady. She smiled and wished us good night.
Holding hands, we went down towards the entrance of the restaurant, where we were stopped by a security guard. "Good evening, ladies. Reservation?"
Miranda handed him the phone, which flashed the combination of numbers for the reservation. The security guard looked at the telephone and smirked as he stepped aside.
Upon entering, the restaurant glowed with candlelight and the bustle of people. My mother and I didn't stop marveling at everything until the waitress came up to us and intended to follow her.
We walked towards the tables on the second floor. After climbing the stairs, I covered myself. People of all ranks were chatting and enjoying the evening around the tables, but my attention was drawn to a table further away, where a group of men in suits were sitting.
Sophia and Miranda were already looking towards them and whispering something to each other.
When we arrived at our table, the waitress shoved the menu under each of us and hurried to serve the other customers. We sat down and looked around in agreement - the table stood next to the window, which opened with a wonderful panorama of the main streets of Manhattan.
Reluctantly, my gaze kept drifting towards the far table because something was bothering me. As if the glint of their red jackets reminded me of that eerie night.
Through the dimmer light above the table, I saw a stocky male figure with blackish eyes. Those black eyes stared at me.
He is here. My heart fluttered at the thought that Leonardo D'Angelo was here. Looking back at the menu, I concentrated and chose what to eat.
