Prompted by an intoxicating conversation with Britney, since she contended that D'Angelo's men had gathered outside but didn't know why, I walked here.
Why did I trust her and come here?
Because I'm stupid, I thought as I watched the chaos rise in the front yard of D'Angelo's villa.
In the front yard, D'Angelo's men and members of the Red Lions gang were lined up in a circle. In the middle of the circle stood Reagan, with a gun pressed to a woman's temple. The lady was screaming at the top of her lungs. My heart sank to my feet as I watched Leonardo and a stranger aiming guns at each other. I tried to return to the villa as quietly as possible, but the creaking of the doors and the clamor of people made Leonardo turn around.
His eyebrows dropped, and the gun he held against the stranger barely trembled. The stranger, a supposedly loud-mouthed one, pressed the gun more closely to Leonardo and shouted, "And here is the main guest of the evening."
Suddenly, the man turned the gun towards me. My courage evaporated as I watched the metal barrel aimed at me. My legs buckled in fear, but I unconsciously stepped behind Leonardo.
"Don't you dare. Don't even think about hurting her."
The guy didn't stop laughing but listened more closely to what Leonardo was saying.
"D'Angelo, I'm not going to kill her," the newcomer said and waved the gun in his hand in my direction.
"You sure? Because if you even think about it, if you even fire one, f you even graze her with a bullet, I'll do it," Leonardo stepped down a stair.
I watched as men stepped closer to each other. Behind the stranger, Martin and Patrick were sneaking up—they tried to make as little noise as possible, and it seemed to be working.
No one faltered, but I clung even tighter to the column by the front doors.
What's happening?
Feeling his gang behind him, Leonardo dashed to the stranger and pressed the gun to his forehead. Martin and Patrick were already very close. Suddenly, they surrounded the other newcomers, and Reagan, still holding the girl by the neck, pressed the pistol in her temple harder.
Everyone was trapped, and the man standing before Leonardo looked around. His companions and the girl were caught. Their raging eyes spoke that they had no chance to defend themselves - not from the Red Lions.
For some time it was quiet - all I could hear was my heartbeat, but the first shot didn't take long to fire. One of the newcomers, a man, fell, and the girl against Reagan screamed even louder.
