Lauren loved to bake.
Every free weekend that she found time to bake, she spent her free time in the kitchen. She liked to try out new recipes that she saw on TikTok or that her friends and family sent her.
Today she tried out a recipe that Justin had sent her.
She wanted to surprise her boyfriend with the baked vanilla cupcakes with the purple topping.
In fact, she had chosen the color purple because she thought it was a perfect match for him.
Not only because of the Minnesota Vikings but also because she knew how much her boyfriend liked the color purple.
Carefully she put the cupcakes in the oven and set a timer on her phone.
Scattered about all over the kitchen were various ingredients, while scattered on the floor was a small pile or two of flour.
Lauren had not noticed that the flour packaging had a tear when she had taken the flour out of the cupboard, and so she had.
But now was no time to worry about the mess, because now she had to make the cream of the cupcakes before Justin would come home.

"Lauren?" Justin called from the hallway, causing her to flinch.
She had been so engrossed in trying to get the cream to turn purple somehow that she hadn't really succeeded, so now the cupcakes were blue instead of purple.
"Shit" , she muttered softly
Things went wrong today too, she thought to herself as the footsteps came closer and Justin poked his head into the kitchen shortly after.
" Hey Love " , he greeted his girlfriend as he came into the kitchen, dodging the flour blobs and then giving Lauren a kiss on the cheek.
" The cupcakes smell so yummy " , he gushed as he nibbled a cupcake that wasn't ready yet.
"Justin, no!" , Lauren exclaimed but it was already too late. Justin shoved the cupcake into his mouth and lapped it up with relish while getting a brief angry look from Lauren, until she returned her full attention to the cupcakes.
"They weren't ready yet..." , she mumbled as she spread the cream as neatly as she could on the cupcake.
"Oh come on, you've got about twelve cupcakes left there. It doesn't matter about the one now."
Lauren just shook her head and said nothing more.
Actually, Justin knew how much she hated it when he tasted her unfinished baking projects.
And yet she had tried so hard to make him the cupcakes he wanted as perfect as possible.
"How was your day?" Justin asked, trying to steer the conversation in another direction.
But his girlfriend didn't answer him and gave her full attention to the cupcakes.
Had he done something wrong?
He was also sure that Lauren would now ignore him until she had finished the cupcakes completely, Which is why he retreated to the living room and decided to wait for Lauren there.

With a satisfied smile on her lips, Lauren placed the finished cupcakes on the dining room table.
After she had finished the cupcakes, she had quickly cleaned the kitchen thoroughly and tidied up.
Justin hadn't shown his face in the kitchen for the last hour.
Now she discovered him on the sofa with his cell phone in his hand.
When Justin noticed his girlfriend looking at him, he got up and came over to her.
His eyes wandered to the perfect looking cupcakes.
His girlfriend really had great talent.
Justin had tried many times to convince Lauren to do it professionally, but Lauren always assured him that it would remain her hobby, because she was afraid that one day she would lose the fun in the neck if she did it every day.
"They look great," he complimented his girlfriend while carefully reaching his hand for one of the cupcakes.
"Is this the recipe I sent you?" , he asked her, but Lauren just looked at him and didn't say a word.
What was wrong with her? Was she mad because he had tried the cupcake earlier without the topping?
"Love what's wrong?" , he asked worriedly, lowering the hand that held the cupcake before putting it back on the table and then pulling his girlfriend into his arms.
"Can you stop ignoring me please? I'm going crazy." , he said almost pleadingly, noticing a soft giggle from the smaller one a moment later.
"What?" , he asked
"Nothing. It's just so funny to see you almost go crazy when I ignore you."
With a smirk on her lips, she shrugged.
"I'm sorry. I'll never eat another cupcake without your permission. Even if it's already done." , he promised her, which made Lauren giggle.
"Idiot." , she said giggling and then held out the cupcake to him, which Justin tasted and shortly after sighed with pleasure.
"Your baking skills are awesome," he praised her again before pulling her close and kissing her, making Lauren taste the sweet flavor of the cupcake.
