Again Kenadie glanced out the window, hoping to spot the car that would bring her her long-awaited package.
But the street was empty, except for a few neighborhood kids riding their bikes and skateboards down the street.
"Where the heck is my package?" she asked herself, as she pushed the curtain back in front of the window and then saw the one car that seemed to be coming closer, pausing in its movement.
In fact, it was the package man, who hopefully had her package with him.
Kenadie quickly pulled the curtains neatly in front of the window, so that the package man would not discover her at the window.
Shortly thereafter, she heard the package being placed on the small porch, a soft knock on the door, and within a few seconds, the car driving away.
Kenadie quickly ran into the adjoining hallway and retrieved the small square package she had been waiting for so long.
Almost frantically, she tore open the package and shortly thereafter pressed the red jersey with the number 97 to her chest.
With a broad grin she looked at the jersey.
It was the first jersey of her favorite team and favorite player, which she held in her hands.
She could hardly believe she finally had it in her hands, so she pulled her hoodie over her head, put on the jersey and then dashed back into the hallway, where she looked at herself in front of the mirror.
Even though the jersey was a little too big for her, she thought it looked incredibly good on her.
Now, soon, when the new season would start again, she could finally present her new jersey with pride to the other fans.
For a few minutes, Kenadie looked at her new jersey in the mirror, until suddenly the door was unlocked behind her, and moments later she was looking through the mirror at her boyfriend.
Kenadie and Nick's relationship was still pretty fresh.
Four months ago the two had gotten together and three months ago she had moved in with the dark-haired one during the week.
Nick looked at the younger girl in surprise and couldn't believe his eyes at what Kenadie was wearing.
He blinked a few times to make sure what he just saw was real.
"Wow," he murmured in amazement as he walked up to his girlfriend.
Kenadie released her gaze from the mirror and turned around to her friend, grinning.
"Is that my Jersey?" , he asked her.
"Um, yeah. So not really yours, but I ordered one with your name on it," she told him proudly as she spun around, clearly showing Nick that she had chosen his back number and name.
"Wow", he said again, while it was hard for him to take his eyes off the red jersey, in which his girlfriend looked incredibly good.
"I thought it was about time to support you properly in the stadium, too."
Kenadie narrowed the distance between her and Nick, put her hands on his neck and looked up at him.
"I like that idea." , he said with a grin as he placed his hands on her hips and then pulled her in for a quick kiss.
"But you didn't have to buy one. You could have gotten one from me like that."
"Those nasty stinky things?" , Kenadie asked him, grimacing in disgust.
"Um, I would have washed them for you, of course..."
Laughing, Kenadie shook her head, knowing full well that her boyfriend wasn't a big fan of doing laundry and was already in over his head when it came to separating the colors.
"I think I'm quite happy with my new jersey and these..." , Kenadie began the sentence and let it hang in the air for a few seconds while she stepped back a bit and then put a 49ers cap on her head before continuing to speak "can't miss either."
"Then we can only win" , Nick noted with a grin.
"Yes, and I will cheer for you the loudest" , she promised him and began to look forward to the next game, which unfortunately was still a little way off....
