Nervously, y/n brushed one of the strands she had curled half an hour ago out of her face.
She was quite nervous because today Joe would meet her parents for the first time.
Her parents knew that she had been in steady hands for three months, but there had never been a suitable time for y/n to introduce Joe to her parents.
But today was the day. Her grandfather's birthday was to be the occasion for Joe to meet not only her parents for the first time but her whole family.
"Are you all right?" , she heard Joe ask, who had packed the car into a vacant space and was now reaching for y/n's hands.
"Honestly, no," she admitted honestly, seeing no reason to lie to Joe. She knew how nervous he was too.
Actually, y/n didn't want Joe to feel how nervous she was, because she was afraid that he would feel it too much and become even more nervous.
But right now Joe seemed quite relaxed, unlike her, although she knew her family and how they were.
But maybe that was exactly the reason. Because her family not only had a strange sense of humour. There was a kind of tradition in the y/n/l/n house in which the boyfriends or girlfriends who were brought along were closely scrutinised.
"We can do this." Joe's voice was soft as he squeezed y/n's hands and then pressed a kiss to her forehead, making her smile.
"Actually, that was going to be my line."
Y/n looked at Joe, who gave her a soft smile.
"Repeat it then."
"We can do this." , she repeated Joe's sentence as she returned the pressure of her hands and pressed a quick kiss to Joe's lips.
Then she reached for the small gift bag that had been in the footwell for the whole journey and got out.
Hand in hand, the two walked up the driveway to the white garden fence.
From the garden they could already hear the sound of voices and soft music, from which y/n could conclude that the party was already underway.
