FOR A FEW seconds, y/n closed her eyes. Her heart hammered against her chest as she nervously kneaded her hands.
Her period was ten days overdue. Every now and then her period came a little later, but so far it had only ever been two or three days and not ten.
She had called her sister half an hour ago, who had immediately recommended that she get a pregnancy test.
So Y/n had gone out and bought a test, which she had taken two minutes ago and which was now lying upside down on the sink while the timer on her cell phone ran down.
In a few minutes she would find out whether her period was really just late or whether she was pregnant.
Nervously, y/n ran her fingers through her hair and began to wonder if she shouldn't call her big sister and ask her to come over.
Her big sister had offered to support her during the phone call, but she had actually refused out of sheer excitement and nervousness.
She didn't know what the right course of action was. With every minute that passed, she became more and more nervous.
Her thoughts kept revolving around the idea of what if she was pregnant.
Y/n was a family person and had dreamed of starting her own family with her long-term boyfriend Andrei from a young age.
The thought of possibly being pregnant now triggered feelings of happiness and fear in her at the same time.
Feelings of happiness because she had always dreamed of having a family and this wish was within her grasp.
Fear, because she wondered if it was too soon and she was afraid of not being ready for a baby.
"Calm down. Driving yourself crazy won't help at all," she murmured quietly to herself and tried to calm down a little.
She breathed in and out calmly again and again, which made her slowly relax and start to feel better.
But when the timer on her cell phone suddenly started to echo through the bathroom, her heart began to hammer violently against her ribs again and her nervousness grew more and more.
With trembling hands, she reached for the test, which she took in her hand and looked at her nervous face in the mirror for a few seconds.
"Everything will be fine. No matter what the test says. Andrei and I will work it out. He loves me and will be by my side."
She slowly turned the test over in her hand and looked at the positive as if frozen, without understanding what it actually meant.
As she stared at the word, she didn't notice her boyfriend Andrei's footsteps getting louder as he slowly approached the bathroom.
Y/n didn't know that her boyfriend was back from training, so she was still staring at the test in the bathroom when Andrei pushed open the door and looked at his girlfriend.
Andrei's eyebrows went up as he looked at his girlfriend with confusion and concern.
He tried to understand what was going on.
His gaze traveled from y/n's wide eyes, still staring at the test, down to her hands.
When he spotted the white something in her hands, he knew immediately what it was.
A pregnancy test. His knees trembling and his heart beating faster, he walked slowly towards his girlfriend.
"Babe?" he whispered softly so as not to frighten her and to hide the trembling in his voice.
Suddenly he was also quite nervous about the result, which he would find out any second.
About two months ago, the two of them had had a brief conversation about family planning and Andrei knew that y/n wanted to have a big family just as much as he did.
Y/n slowly lifted her head and looked over at him. Tears were already shimmering in her eyes, slowly escaping from the corners of her eyes and beginning to roll down her cheeks.
"I am pregnant," she whispered, sobbing, her words changing not only her world but also Andrei's once and for all.
And for the better.
"You're pregnant," he repeated her words, also whispering, and crossed the remaining meters to his girlfriend, whom he hugged tightly and pressed against him happily.
Meanwhile, he felt a few tears of joy escape his eyes and begin to roll down his cheeks.
"I'm pregnant," y/n repeated again, as if she still couldn't believe that she was really carrying a little one and that they would soon be a family.
"This is the best gift you could ever give me," Andrei murmured as he placed his hands on y/n's cheeks and wiped the tears from her cheeks and then kissed her.
He and y/n couldn't be happier. They would soon have a baby and finally their long-dreamed-of wish would come true. They would have a family.
And they couldn't wait to share this great news with their families and friends.
