Of Wings And Claws

CHAPTER 20

"Time and tide waits for no man, Luna" is all Hebe says before they disappear right infront of my eyes.

"No!" I scream, reaching out to catch Emily but my hand just grabs thin air.
Time and tide waits for no man. Hebe's words ring in my brains like a mantra.

My wings takes me up before I even have time to think about what had just happened, what had just been said.

Tamora. Lycidas, the pack, no no....

For the first time in my life, I feel like my wings aren't doing their job properly. When I do finally land on the back yard, I sprint towards the back door only to come face to face with the devil herself. She looks taken aback by my sudden appearance but she soon collects herself and plaster a smile.

"Luna, the Alpha has been looking for you. Where have you been?"

"Oh, just out for some fresh air. Are you done with your superpowers yet?" I fake a smile and she giggles shaking her head.

"No not yet Luna, Only Alpha, his team and you are left. I've just finished with the elders" she says still smiling and I nod. Something about the way she says finished doesn't sit well with me. "Well I'll go find the Alpha now, you have yourself a good night" I say moving towards the door. She nods and disappears down the treeline. Her hair, a striking resemblance to her sister's.

I don't waste any time and push the door open, walking in the kitchen I come face to face with the person I wanted to see. He's shirtless and a little sweaty, like he's from a run. If I wasn't so panicked right now I would actually take my time admiring those abs.

"Baby, you had me worried. Where hav—"

"Shhh, come with me" I say shushing him and then pulling him by the hand.

"Melody, I'm sorry about what you saw baby. I swear I can explain."  He says while I continue to drag him upstairs and to his room. Once there I pull him in and lock the door.

"Baby look. I can explain, can we atleast talk about—"

"Shhh, shush. I told you to shut up!" I snap, my mind starting to hurt. My eyes go over the windows that are wide open and I rush there. Checking outside first before I pull them close and draw the curtains shut.

"Melody, what's going on. Where have you been?" Lycidas walks towards me with a frown on his perfect face. I start to pace, with my left hand on my waist and the other under my chin, Emily Elizabeth's style. I sigh at the thought.

"Lycidas we have to talk. It's important, it's crucial. I don't even know where to start.." I say gripping my hair.

"Hey, hey. Melody look at me. I know what you saw is bad baby but let me explain. I don't know what's going on, I don't—" I put my pointer finger against his lips as a signal for him to keep quiet.

"That's not what I want to talk about. Well it partly is but there's an urgent matter you need to know first. Lycidas I went on a walk around the forest after we talked and—"

"You what? You do know we have rogues right?" 

"Goddess wolf! Can you just let me talk for one minute!" I roar making his eyes narrow before he frowns and looks at me with a disaproving look.

"Okay go on" he says folding his arms.

"Like I was saying, I went on a walk and lost track of time, then while I was still trying to find my way back something happened. Something disturbed me"

He frowns, giving me his whole attention. "What did you see?"

"Hebe"

Lycidas' whole demour changes and he grips my forearms. "That can't be possible Melody, Hebe was banned from the pack, meaning she can't cross the pack borders without being invited in, moreover our pack border  is heavily guarded there's so way she could have found a way in."
