I sit on the dining table with my bowl full of oatmeal. My mind a thousand miles away, "I've loved you from the very first time I laid my eyes on you. I knew you were mine to protect, mine to care for..." He takes a deep breath massaging his temples.

"My little sister"

His words echo in my head and I resist the urge to hiss as a migraine starts to pound on my temples. "I'm half fae and half wolf. My identity has been hidden from the pack since I was born, my father was the former Alpha's delta. When he found his mate, your mother, our mother, that's when the problems started. He tried to hide it from the pack but the former Lord Alpha found out and killed him for treason. Mother was angry that she declared war on the entire pack. The fairies had no problem with bounding outside their finagle, but the wolves have been selfish creatures from the very beginning. Mother killed the former Lord Alpha and his Luna Lordess infront of their three sons. Then her finagle took care of the rest of the pack. The only ones that survived were the kids and elders, since they were locked up in the Alpha's secret dungeon. The lord Alpha's sons were sparred and left to live in painful memory of their parents. The eldest son who was originally supposed to be Lord didn't care about his siblings after that, he was in too much pain that he blamed his younger siblings for the death of their parents and decided to go rogue, before he made a deal with the devil. The second son still lives in misery and with deep hatred for faefolk, but he can't do anything when his moon gifted is a fae."

"Baby..." I jump at the voice and Lycidas chuckles. "You've been spacing out a lot since yesterday. What's going through your pretty little head?" He says smiling softly, "is our mother still alive Anwar?", "Barely, after the massacre she bounded with a powerful fae from another kingdom still trying to forget about her deceased beloved. Then you came along, with eyes as brown as the autumn leaves and nose like a little button. Mom was ecstatic, I was overjoyed to finally be a big brother, the whole finagle was celebrating the birth of their princess. Oh, did I mention that we're royalty? Princess Bellus Evanton and Prince Anward Feyer. But I can't be the heir to the throne since I'm a hybrid, although the faes never had anything with the wolves, since Delta Aras Feyers was killed the faes don't like the wolves that much. Although living in the South was great I had to come back to serve my duty as delta. Lycidas doesn't know my mother, he doesn't even know why my father was killed, he just assumes the fae started the war because they wanted to claim their land. So I came back as the deceased delta's son who was a result of a one night stand with a she wolf that died during the war. Little did they know..."

"Melody you're scaring me baby, what's going on?" Lycidas cups my face with his huge hands, his black orbs staring at me with intensity.

I shake my head, scooping my oatmeal. "Nothing, just thinking about our current predicament", I say chewing slowly and avoiding his eyes.  "Time was running out, Lycidas was growing up too fast and conquering neighbouring packs, forming alliances and turning other wolves against fairies with his biased story. Our mother had to hide you before they got to her, so she went to the Center, to some orphanage and she left you on the door but not before erasing every memory of us you had. You were twelve at that time, Bula did an excellent job erasing your memories I see, you don't remember anything do you?" I shake my head and sigh, my heart beating faster. This is too much to take in. "You didn't answer me Anwar, did Lycidas kill our mother" the question causes my throat to tighten. "And if so, where's my father?"
" Slow down my queen, our mother is very much alive Melody and so is your father. But there's something great coming, greater than the first war. It's going to be worse." I nod, before I tell him about Hebe and the Daywalker and everything that is going on. "Anwar, when I saw Bula for the first time she talked about me finding a missing piece before the darkness consumes me, what does that mean?."
Anwar sighs and shifts on his bed. "There's a ring, an emerald ring similar to the stone hanging around your neck. It was mother's, she had Bula remake it after you were born to surpress the unseelie fae in you. We are amongst the last unseelie court royals still alive. Before you ask, yes, I do have my own stone, it's half emerald and half onyx because I'm a hybrid but I don't wear it too often because the wolf in me is stronger than the fae, that's why I don't have wings but I can cast fairy dust here and there." He says and we both chuckle. "Lycidas has the ring, and the problem is you can't ask for it because he'll know you're the unseelie court queen's long lost daughter. But all I'm saying is your darkness is going to come in handy very soon, hang in there, don't let it fully consume you."  Anwar and I's conversation from last night lives rent free in my head.
