Flying came easy to Neteyam. He bonded with his ikran on his first try at 13 and was flying every day since. That was until his family came here to Awa'atlu. He felt liberated to be back in the sky again.

The pair began to fly over the jungle, flying down close to the trees. Nani looked down in amazement. She had been so used to seeing blue her entire life that the leafy green and bright neon plants made her pupils dilate. She was in pure awe with what her home island had to offer.

Neteyam held onto her thigh as they rode, making sure she was safe the entire time. The wind blew through her hair and sent a shiver down her spine. "This is crazy!!" Nani gasped out, holding onto Neteyam even harder as they made a turn.

He flew up towards the mountains of the island and eventually made their way to the top. Landing on a rocky surface, one of the highest points of the island. He hopped off and quickly held out his hands to help her down.

Nani stubbled a bit as she stepped off. She had never been in the sky before, let alone this high up on land.

"That. Was..."

"Amazing right?" Neteyam finished her sentence.

"Thank you Teyam." She smiled up to him and gave him a hug around the waist, he looked down and grinned, giving her a hug back. "This is incredible," she said backing away from the hug and looking down upon the island below her.

"Look! That is my village," She pointed down in excitement, her village looked so small from up here. The jungle was huge, she thought. Neteyam stood beside her and looked down at the jungle; trying his best to see what was down there.

"Do you miss the forest?" Nani asked him.

"I miss my home." He said lowly, "I miss my grandmother. Her name is Mo'at, she is the Tsahik. I miss flying, I miss the grass and running in the forest."

"We can fly out here whenever you want, Neteyam." Nani said placing a comforting hand on his back.

"What about the jungle?" He asked her.

"We do not go into the jungle, Neteyam." She said shaking her head softly and looking over at the boy.

"But we could, can't we?"

"It is dangerous. We are not to go to the jungle, ever." She said sternly, with a straight face. "We only go into the jungle close to the village to gather resources but never deep into the jungle."

"I will bring my bow, Nani." He pleaded, "My ikran will be near us, I will protect you. I promise."

Nani'ite took a look back over the cliff and at the jungle below her. She wanted to explore her island, she truly did. Her parents would kill her if they knew, but she didn't care in this moment.

"Tomorrow. We will go tomorrow night."

The next morning Neteyam rolled out of his bed groggy, he didn't get much sleep last night but to him it was worth it. It was worth the tiredness if it meant he got to spend time with Nani.

"Bro," Lo'ak said to his brother, "where we're you last night?"

"What do you mean?" Neteyam whispered, making sure his parents were not around.

"I got up to get something to drink and you were gone." Lo'ak said lowly.

"I... I was just up walking around the village. I couldn't fall asleep."

Neteyam usually trust's his brother but he was not sure yet of how Nani'ite felt about the situation. Of course, the two we're nothing serious yet but Neteyam still wanted to respect Nani and her privacy. If he knew one thing it was that her parents would not be happy if the new boy was sneaking their daughter out to take her flying around at night.

Neteyam made his way to the communal village spot to grab breakfast with Lo'ak and Tuk. Kiri had decided to stay home, saying she would meet up for training later. Neteyam grinned once he spotted Nani as he waited in line, she looked tired as she was handing out servings to the villagers.

"Good morning." Neteyam smiled at her. Nani instantly tensed up once she saw the boy, those two had a secret together which felt oddly exciting to Nani.

"Good morning, you look tired, Neteyam." Nani grinned back at the boy.

"It is because he snook out last night." Tuk said up to the girl innocently.

Neteyam's eyes went wide, giving a look to Nani which read that he had no clue what Tuk was talking about.

"Just to walk around." Lo'ak said down to Tuk.

"Yeah, I just needed from fresh air Tuk," Neteyam lied, brushing it off hoping that his little sister would not tell their parents.

"I won't tell mom and dad." Tuk assured him, that is why Tuk was always his favorite.

Not long after breakfast all of the Sully kids met up with the usual group to train. Ao'nung had took Lo'ak and Neteyam to learn how to fish while the sisters taught the girls how to harvest around the village. The entire time both Nani and Neteyam thought about what was to come that night. Sneaking out to explore the jungle.

The girls we're all on the beach, gathering shells that the village might use. Whatever doesn't get used goes back into the water.

"Do you like my brother?" Tuk asked innocently from behind Nani and Tsireya.

Both sisters turned around instantly with wide eyes, causing Kiri to chuckle.

"Which one?" "Who, me?" The sisters said at the same time.

"Kiri don't laugh," Tuk said to her sister, "it is okay. They like you both too."

Tsireya blushed down and smiled, Nani'ite on the other hand turned around and got back to work. Young Tuk meant well but it really raised a question in Nani's mind. She liked how Neteyam made her feel safe, he made her happy, smile without even having to try. She was scared of how close she was letting him in, scared of what might happen next.
