"Can you pick up that one, Tuk? Yup, that blue one."

"Here you go." Tuk smiled and placed the shell in the basket Nani carried with her good arm.

The two walked the beach a little before sunset that day. Just as promised, Nani'ite was looking for Tsireya's favorite shells to make her a necklace for Lo'ak. She wasn't going to ruin the surprise, but she was also going to craft an anklet for Tuktirey to wear herself since she couldn't stop playing with hers.

"You are so pretty." Tuk randomly said up to Nani as they both looked for shells.

"Awe Tuk, you are pretty too." Nani returned the compliment.

"You only think that because I look like Neteyam." Tuk giggled.

"Can I tell you a secret," Nani whispered and bent down to her level, "I think you're prettier than Neteyam."

"No way!" Tuk exclaimed, her brother was her everything. Nani admired how much she loved him, and how well he cared for Tuk. Watching him interact with his siblings gave Nani'ite the best feeling about him becoming a father.

"Look! There is Neteyam!" Tuk pointed out to her brother, who was walking at a distance.

He carried a big bundle of fabric that Nani recognized would be used to build a marui. She grinned as she watched her mate from a distance walk through the village carrying what would be used to make their home. He did not see the pair, but it was nice for Nani'ite to see him, even from a distance it comforted her.

Although she had the Sully's, she felt alone. Getting the role of clan leader stripped away from her made her feel empty. Of course, she had so much to look forward to. A new home, motherhood, life with her lover; but she had worked her entire life to become the leader of her home island. Leaving that dream behind is not as easy as it seems.

"Do you think we have enough shells?" Tuk asked eagerly.

Nani'ite noticed a group of kids her age playing in the shallow end of the water. Nani grinned and nodded her head.

"Yes, this is perfect. Thank you Tuk," She signaled with her head to the kids playing, "Go on."

Tuk turned and ran into the water to play with the other children of the village. Nani looked down at her injured arm and winced at the pain as she tried to rotate it. Okay, time to go home, she thought.

Just as she made it back to the Sully's home, she was caught off guard to see her brother outside of the marui, leaning against it with his arms crossed.

"Ao'nung, what are you doing here?"

"So, you are really not coming home? This is your family now?"

"If you're here to judge me then you can leave." Nani said lowly, not wanting to hear her brother's spiel.
