Quickly Neteyam put up his bow and shot an arrow right on target, shooting down one of the viperwolves. The pack tripled, more than 10 viperwolves surrounded Nani'ite by this point.
"Nani, run!" He yelled, making his way closer and pulling up his bow again to shoot the next target.
Nani'ite turned to run back towards Neteyam but she was pulled down by a couple of the viperwolves, pinning her to the ground. She wrestled as much as she could with them, trying her best to throw them off of her. One finally snapped, making their mark on her arm, she saw its sharp teeth pierce through her arm.
"AH!" Nani'ite yelped out at the pain trying to get her arm out of its mouth.
Neteyam flung the one on top of her off with his bow, then stabbing the other one attacking her. Before he could check on Nani he turned towards the pack, hissing and showing his teeth, protecting his lover. He aimed his bow, trying his best to scare off the rest of the pack.
All while, Nani was looking at her arm and all she saw was red. Blood began pouring from her arm and she tried her best to apply pressure before she started seeing double vision. Her eyes became drowsy, the last sight she saw was Neteyam turning down towards her with panic on his face.
Neteyam hovered over her, quickly ripping a piece of his cloth to wrap around Nani's arm and apply pressure, just as his father taught him.
"Hey! Nani, Hey!" He shook her face, trying to get her to regain her consciousness. Panic began to settle in once he realized she had passed out from the blood loss. He swiftly picked her up and called out for his ikran.
He flew back to the village as quick as possible, carrying Nani'ite in his lap. Supporting her head with one hand and using the other to fly. He made it right to the dock outside of his home and his Ikran roared out loudly as they landed, shaking the marui slightly in front of them. Surely that was enough to wake the village.
"Dad!" Neteyam yelled out with Nani'ite unconscious in his arms.
"What the hell is going on!" Jake said rushing out of the home with Neytiri right behind him.
"Neteyam! What happened?" Neytiri asked in a panic state.
"She was attacked, she's bleeding, she's unconscious!" He tripped over his words.
"We must take her to her mother! Tsahik cures," Neytiri began to lead the way, "Come, quick!"
Neteyam and his parents ran towards Nani's home to wake her parents. By now villagers had awoken from the scene, checking out of their marui's to see what all the noise was about.
"Keep pressure on her wound, watch her head boy!" Jake yelled out from behind Neteyam as they ran.
"Tsahik! Ronal!" Neytiri yelled as they made their way to the marui. Quickly Neteyam laid her on the floor in the middle of the home, hoping she would awake.
"Come on, please wake up." He shook her gently, sitting down next to her.
"What is this?" Ronal asked with Tonowari following right behind her, "Nani'ite!" She exclaimed as soon as she saw her daughter unconscious.
"What happened?" She yelled up to the Sully's as she began grabbing all of the tools she needed to treat her.
"She was attacked " Neteyam said quickly, "She was attacked by viperwolves ma'am." Neteyam said quickly.
"Viperwolves?" Ronal asked looking at the boy, causing him to bow his head a bit, worried of what was to come next.
"Nangtang?" Tonowari said grabbing his spear, "Have they made it to the edge of the jungle near the village?"
"No, Sir." Neteyam bit his cheek, "We were out in the jungle."
"You what?" Ronal yelled up, dropping her tools on the ground.
Chaos was the only word to describe the room. Tonowari tossed his spear down in the corner of the room and began mumbling under his breath, "This is why we stay away from the jungle!" Neteyam tried to explain himself while Ronal cursed him.
Jake was scolding his son at the same time, "You know better than to do that, boy! How long have you been doing this? "
Neytiri cursing under her breath wondering how she didn't put the pieces together sooner, if only she had known they were going to the jungle.
Tsireya and Ao'nung made their way out of their rooms, causing Tsireya to immediately panic, asking what was wrong with her sister. Tears fell down her face as she sat next to her. Ao'nung pointing angrily at Neteyam, "So you're who she's been sneaking out with!"
"Enough!" Tonowari finally said to break the chaos, "My daughter is unconscious."
"Move!" Ronal pushed Neteyam to sit in front of Nani'ite. "Tsireya, help me. OUT! Everyone out now, Neytiri, you stay."
"I'm not leaving." Neteyam told them.
"Come on, boy!" Jake pulled his son by the back of the neck and made their way out of the marui. The glowing ocean lit up the village as did the stars and the large planet they orbited.
"Fuck!" Neteyam yelled out, punching the tree structure beside him, tears forming in his eyes.
"Hey!" Jake grabbed his son by the shoulders, "What the hell is this all about? Have you been sneaking out every night with her?"
Neteyam didn't respond to his dad, just glaring, trying not to let any tears escape his eyes.
"Neteyam!"
"Yes, sir." Neteyam clenched his jaw.
"Unbelievable." Jake mumbled, "You are grounded, you hear me boy? No flying, no swimming, you can kiss your freedom away."
"Yes, sir." Neteyam said again, emotionless.
"Come on, let's go home."
"No." Neteyam didn't budge, causing his dad to shoot him a death stare, "No sir. I'm staying until she wakes up. I need to make sure she is okay."
Jake huffed and nodded his head, backing away slowly and turning to walk back home. Leaving his son to sit alone on the dock outside of Nani's home. His father walked home, thinking to himself, there is only one way a man would care for a woman's well-being so much. He saw himself in his son at that moment; the way he cared for Nani was the same way he cared for Neytiri.
