Just your average love story...But in Space.

My legs are tired but I have to keep going, keep moving, keep pushing.
I need to know. I need to. I felt the wind blowing roughly through my hair as I ran through the desert like environment. I look behind me for a spit second and see Lance. My heart begins to beat just a bit faster. I turn my focus back upon the crash site full of dread.
I stop running and go to hide behind some rocks. My breathing unsteady, my legs aching and my mind a mess. "There's to many guards." I say looking back at Lance. " I can't get in... I need a quick distracti-" I begin to say before I hear bombs sounding off behind me. "Just what I needed." I say then turning back to look at the tent that was now surrounding the crash site.
"You know what would be a good idea. How about we all go back and go sneak into the kitchen and get some ice cream or something and forget about all this." I turn to look at Hunk. My eyes blazing with anger. "I can't just go back Hunk! This is bigger than just sneaking out... This is bigger you, me, than all of us. I can't leave. Not now." I say getting all up in Hunk's face. I regret yelling at him instantly but still, I can't leave. Not if there is any chance of it being him.
"Everyone, let's just calm down." Lance says putting a hand on both mine and Hunk's shoulders. It's like his touch weighed hundreds of pounds on my shoulder. His hand stayed there for what felt like hours but I didn't mind. In fact I wish it'd stay there for another five hours.
In fact I've always had a thing for Lance even when people thought that me and Keith had a whole thing going on. Being around Keith there was always that serious air surrounding him. Keith is great when it comes to serious talks that last for hours on end but after a while those kind of things can really weigh on a person's soul. With Lance it's a total opposite. With him there is this air of freedom, laughter, and he has this warmth about him that reminds me of home. Something that Keith couldn't ever have. Even though they are complete opposites they are both my best friends. Even though if Lance ever wanted to be more then I wouldn't complain.
"I'm going." I blurted out. "No your not." I rolled my eyes. Why's Lance worried? If I get caught I can just blame it on someone else or that I slept walked or something like that. "I'm going." I push his hand off of my shoulders. Luckily I was wearing a hoodie and I quickly pulled the hood over my head to try and cover anything that stood out that could be used to identify me. Then I ran into the tent. All of the guards were already taken out. Keith's been here. I run through the halls and come across a room. "Shiro?" I hear Keith whisper.
"Keith. We don't have much time before guards find us. We need to go." I say in a panic. He nods and starts to pick up Shiro. "No. Nope. I'm saving Shiro!" Lance yells as he picks up the other side of Shiro. "And who are you?" Keith asks. I roll my eyes. No way he just started up and argument right here, right now. Also there is no way that Keith doesn't know who Lance is.
"Shut the hell up and come on!" I yell and continued to run through the halls. I was quickly ambushed by guards. They surrounded me. "You've got to be kidding me!" I yell. I brace myself to punch and just my luck... I miss and that's when things start to fade into black.
The next thing I know is that things are quiet and I'm in a wooden room on a bed. I look around and see Shiro next to me and begin to stand up. I see black dots then hit the floor again. "Lance!" I hear who I assume to be Keith yell. "Go check up on them in the room!" He yells. I quickly stand up and wipe off my pants and panic. What am I supposed to do? This is gonna be awkward.
The door opens and I watch Lance's head peak in. He smiles a bit. "Good morning." He whispers and I smile. He holds his hand out for me and I take it in an instant. "I'm glad to see you... What happened?" I ask. "Garrison guards happened. I told you not to go in." He says and I bashfully blush.
"Sorry." I say looking down at the wooden floor beneath me. "It's okay. We're all okay now." He says. I can tell that he wasn't up to arguing about this with me so I dropped the topic. "How long was I out?" I asked, noticing the sky was getting a bit brighter than it was before. "About five, six hours." He answered. I feel my hand getting sweaty. Wait- I'm still holding his hand.
I look down and blush at the site of our hands interlocked. "Oh I'm sorry Y/n." He says rubbing the back of his neck. He really shouldn't be sorry though, in fact I liked it. I liked the way our fingers interlocked and the sensation of his skin touching mine and most importantly I liked the thought of it. The thought of us.
"Pidge and Hunk are outside. We're waiting for Shiro to wake up before we do anything else." Lance explained as the two of us walked out of the door. I still had Lance's jacket on. I felt bad because I didn't want him to get cold just because of me. His jacket was warm, comforting and even smelled like his cologne. I liked wearing it. It was warm and it gave me hope. Hope that maybe someday we can be a little more than just friends.
