THE THREE OF THEM
went up the stairs, Lockwood leading as always, Agnes  and Lucy still on the stairs.
"it's the knocking again...it's getting closer this time!"

"you think?" Agnes looked back; pure sarcasm dripping in her voice, making Lockwood turn to her as well.
"it stopped, just when I stepped on the landing. it knows we're here." Agnes added, shivers went down her spine from the sensation. but it wasn't from fear, no. she loved it- she loved the adrenaline when it came to it, the way she secretly enjoyed most of it.

"temperature's dropping." Lockwood frowned as Agnes fixed her sleeves. "right, torch off. I need to tune in." Lucy said from behind both Lockwood and Agnes.

"pick a door. any door." Lockwood ordered both girls

"go with the furthest." Lucy chose first, Lockwood tested her; he shot his blonde colleague a look, in which she nodded-  "furthest."

"why?" Lockwood turned to Lucy, "because its the scariest." Lucy's voice trembled, Agnes chuckled at the girl's deduction.
Lockwood opened the door, it creaked once more as he observed the room with his torch, Agnes focused on the haunting energy surrounding her rather than the deductions of her partners.

"office." Lucy commented. "yeah, but not always. look." Lockwood knelt down on the floor, raising the mat a little "pressure marks. deep, wide apart. perhaps this used to be a bedroom before the Hopes moved in.
"I can feel it. this is where the source is. can't...can't you feel it?" Lucy directed her question to both partners.

"yea since I stepped onto the room while you blabbered about what this room was." Agnes shrugged.
"now. if you two would like to hurry up your chit-chatting so we can contain the source then maybe we could leave this as soon as possible, I want to get home earlier tonight."

"you know you have to tell us things like that Agnes!" Lockwood reprimanded, "didn't want to cut your lovely conversation, boss." she scoffed as she
went to whatever part of the room was farthest from the boy to inspect.

the old man fell down the stairs again, a fading cry came into both Lucy's and Agnes's ears.
"don't let it get to you. keep active. go get the bags. make a circle. me and Agnes will check the other rooms." Agnes followed with a frown, he didn't even ask her to come along, just told Lucy as if Agnes was not even in the room.

"filings or chains?" Lucy asked before the duo left.
"oh, filings." Lockwood had his hand on his waist, holding the hilt of his sword. "sure? it's still early, and it's already this strong."

"it's not that strong, plus..." Lockwood was cut by both girls " plus what?" they asked in unison.
" I forgot to bring the chains." Agnes groaned with a roll of her eyes, earning a glance from Lockwood.
