AGNES HUFFED IN COMPLAINT, "there's not much time. search the desk!" the Skull instructed and so the two girls walked hurriedly towards a brown table as they opened up cabinets looking for papers. "come on, come on, come on." Lucy pleaded on Agnes's left.
"what's even in the papers anyway?" Lucy inquired anxiously. "not there. keep looking!" the Skull instructed as Agnes went over to another cabinet. Lucy straightened her back, getting up, "shit!" she cursed. Agnes followed her gaze, straightening up as well with widened eyes. ghost fog followed them under the cabinet, whispering voices coming out of the green mist.
Agnes opened the last cabinet, getting a brown file carefully. "that's it. keep them safe." the Skull gasped. Lucy quickly took hold of the files from Agnes's hands, she opened up the top while struggling to put it the bag. "quickly Lucy, they're coming!" the Skull hurried as Agnes brought out a dagger. with one final gasp from Lucy the girl had been able to add the papers to Agnes's bag. the two turned around. a loud wind passed through the secret passage, locking the entrance with a loud bang.
"too late..." the Skull spoke in a shaky voice. Lucy had her face frozen in a grimace of fear, with widened eyes and a mouth agape. the wind had disappeared, in its place multiple ghosts had taken place, rasping and wheezing for breaths. "why do they sound like that?" Lucy asked, terrified at the specters walking towards them. "their final breaths..." the Skull responded quickly.
"they're his patients?" Agnes asked in raised brows, gripping the dagger harder as she regretted her decision of not getting her rapier from the holster. no one responded the question, since it was terribly obvious. the ghosts groaned, disappearing and appearing here and there.
"he killed them." Lucy said, palms on her holster defensively. "time to let me out." the Skull commanded in a different tone, a stern voice. Lucy stared at Agnes, communicating with her eyes. the blonde's green eyes sparkled in comprehension.
Lucy nodded and so did Agnes before they took off, running towards the wooden stairs, passing quickly through the ghosts. "GEORGE!" Lucy screamed from the top of the stairs. "he can't help you now. but I can. free me!" the Skull tried to persuade.
"LOCKWOOD! PLEASE!" Lucy banged the locked entrance. Agnes stepped onto the floor, guarding her knife safely in her empty holster before getting her sword, the blonde put the sword at a distance. looking forward defensively.
"what are you doing you stupid girl!" the Skull exclaimed. "shut up or else I will never open that fucking jar!" she muttered sternly.
"RELEASE ME!" the Skull shrieked as Agnes swung her sword towards a ghost, which disappeared before reappearing at the farthest side of the room. the fog was getting closer, covering Agnes's platformed boots. "AGNES THE FOG!" Lucy looked down towards the blonde. Agnes quickly made her way towards the first two steps, rapier still in hand and her eyes not once leaving the appearing ghosts. "YOU FOOL. YOU'VE RUINED US!" the Skull screamed impatiently. "YOU KNEW!" Lucy screamed back in a shaky voice.
