THE NEXT DAY-
Agnes seemed a little better, her throat didn't hurt as more, and the redness in her eyes seemed to go away.
she spent her entire day locked in her room, existing.
barely moving one muscle.maybe she should open up to them, her colleagues, they seemed to care about her.
no. that's a stupid idea. everyone you open up to ends up harmed, or dead. it was a curse; the Berkshire's were cursed with horrid secrets, the ones who could haunt a person to insanity.
-Agnes was 10, she sat in her vanity as Emilia Berkshire brushed her long brown hair.
"you know dear... we have a very special family." the woman smiled, at the time Agnes did not realize how monstrous her mother's smile was."we have secrets, Agnes. secrets which I know you told Mel- and you should be punished for it." Emilia pushed the girl's hair.
"i'm sorry mother. she promised to not tell anyone about the screaming mirror." Agnes said in agony, face scrunched up each time the monster brought the brush down her hair.
"people lie, and you need to fix your mistake." Emilia stood up.
"make her forget, Agnes. I've scheduled a little play date for you two today, she must be almost here you know." the door bell rang."how?"
"hit her in the head if necessary, as long as she forgets then you'll be out of your punishment. if not, I'm afraid you won't be seeing outside for a long time, young lady." Agnes gulped,
Melissa Stokes entered the room with a giggle.
"hello dear, Mel! how are you this afternoon?" Emilia smiled sweetly.
"i'm good, Mrs.Berkshire!" Mel smiled back. "well how about you and Agnes play in the garden? it's a nice day outside!""tag?" Mel looked at her best-friend, who nodded with a pity smile.
"how about hide n' seek?" Agnes looked at her mother for approval, which was granted.after two long rounds it was Mel's time to count. Agnes had a large rock in her hand, she hid behind a bush- when the time came, she did what was necessary.
the brunette bashed her friend's head with a rock, causing her to fall over and scream.
blow after blow, blood gushed from Melissa's head on to the dirt. Agnes brought her hands up, the rock leaked blood and Agnes's eyes were full of tears."that's enough." Emilia put her hand on the daughter's shoulder, but she was completely frozen seeing the graphic scene upon her.
"you've done a good job, you've made your family proud!" Emilia smiled, hands in her daughter's cheek.
"now let's get you cleaned up, shall we?""what will we say to her mum?" Agnes whispered, not taking her eyes of the passed out girl.
"Mel hit her head, we tried everything to stop the bleeding but... she passed out." Emilia said in a sad tone, now dragging her child away as a server carried the harmed one.
