"Dad... Dad... DAD WAKE UPPPPP!!!!"

Taehyun snapped out of his restless sleep when a child's high pitched voice shouted into his ear at 7:00 in the morning.

Once his vision cleared and got slightly adjusted to the light shining through the curtains, he saw his son had climbed on top of him, but was already scrambling off, not wanting to get into trouble.

Sucks to be him.

"Yah, come back here you cheeky little thing!!"

Juhyeok squealed as Taehyun grabbed him around his torso and yanked the child back onto his lap, tickling him.

"AHH HAHA DAD STOOOP!!!"

"Alright alright."

Taehyun let Juhyeok rest on his stomach, who laughed brightly, and kissed his father's nose.

"Dad, it's my first day of school! You can't miss it; you have to bring me!!"

"Yes yes, I know Juhyeok. Gosh, you little thing is going to school already; are you nervous?" Taehyun tenderly asked.

"Not really; I'm more excited than nervous."

"Wanna tell me why?"

"Well... I'm looking forward to making some real good friends!"

"I'm sure you will."

Juhyeok dramatically gasped.

"But what if I don't— what if the teachers are mean too?"

Taehyun chuckled and booped his little button nose with a smile.

"Don't worry. If the teacher is mean, then they'll have to deal with me. No one messes with my son, clear?"

"Clear Dad."

Juhyeok grinned, showing his gap teeth.

"After all, it's the start of something new!"

"Indeed."

Hopefully history doesn't repeat itself.

"Now, can you please prepare me breakfast? I want pancakes with lots and lots of syrup!!"

"Okay Juju; just let me shower real quick and then I'll prepare you food, okay?"

"Yayyy!!!"

The little boy jumped off the bed and ran down the stairs, holding onto the handrail as he bounded down the steps.

"I'm going to school, I'm going to school," he happily chanted down the way.

Taehyun smiled before climbing out of bed, and headed towards the bathroom.

After shutting the door, Taehyun leaned against it and glanced at the mirror hanging right above the sink.

"Oh crud..."

Dried tears stained his cheeks, indicating he cried once again in his sleep.

The male let out an exasperated sigh, and ran a hand through his dark brown locks, dark like his mind that wandered once again about the one person he missed the most.

Mihye... our son is starting school today. You always talked about bringing him to his first school one day... are you there in spirit? Please be there for him... who knows how often I can...

Taehyun stripped his pajamas off, and stepped into the shower, letting the hot soothing water run over his skin, allowing him a slightly more peaceful state of mind, and scrubbed himself with his favorite soap.
