🎶: 'Hurdle' by Suho"You really couldn't postpone the meeting until an hour later?" Taehyun asked, sitting down in his chair, annoyed.
After battling traffic, he finally arrived, not in the mood for anything related to his job today.
"Mr Kang, there are sometimes more important things in life than your son's first day of school. Your everyday life depends on your job; you wouldn't be able to financially support yourself otherwise," his boss replied.
Taehyun glared at him.
"If it was any other first day of school, I wouldn't mind, but this is my six year old son's very first day of school. Do you have any idea how upsetting it felt to see my little boy walk into a big school building all on his own?!"
Mr Oh fell silent.
"Just as I thought," Taehyun mumbled.
His boss was going to argue more, but that was when the heads of the other subsidiary departments entered the room he was already in with his colleague.
Mr Oh stood up, and Taehyun followed.
"Good morning ladies and gentlemen," he greeted.
"Good morning," they all chorused.
As soon as the conference was over and everyone was dismissed, Mr Oh handed Taehyun a big stack of papers.
"Complete them until 12 pm," he said.
The brunette nearly choked on air.
"What?!"
"Yes, until 12 pm. That is enough time, and then you can have your lunch break right after, if that's what you're so concerned about."
"I could care less whether I have my lunch on time or not."
"Then what is the problem?"
Taehyun was ready to burn the building down.
"My problem is that my son has school out at exactly 12 pm; he can't just go home on his own; he's a child!"
"I'm sorry, Mr Kang, but these files are extremely important, and must be stamped correctly unless we want some angry citizens who've been waiting for a long time knocking on our door."
Taehyun sighed in frustration.
"Fine."
He grabbed the papers.
"I'll try to complete them before 11:30," Taehyun nearly growled.
"That would be great. I highly suggest for you to
think more positively, Mr Kang. It may just help you a lot in life."Taehyun scoffed.
Sure. As if that ever helps.
"Thank you for your advice," he sarcastically replied.
And then Taehyun left the meeting room right after.
Taehyun entered his office up on the fifth floor, dumped the pile of papers on his desk, and leaned his head against the window pane.
"I hate my job."
Taehyun's job for the past six years has been in the Seoul Metropolitan Police. He was no police officer, but secretary to the head chief, Oh Jongmin.
His role is to take care of documenting files and information, managing the missions and take to be executed by the police officers themselves, and also interviewing police trainees to carefully select them.
