Juhyeok had to wait until Thursday to tell Yerim and Jinsong about his weekend back in Daegu, as the cousins were out sick for a couple days due to a heavy cold.Yerim had recovered by now, so she came back to school that day.
As expected, her reaction was nothing short of positive.
"You finally met your grandparents?!" she exclaimed happily.
Juhyeok nodded excitedly.
"Yeah! They're both so nice!"
"Most grandparents are. I'm glad your dad got enough courage to see them again."
"We gotta thank Papa for that. And also Uncle Gyu; he's the one who gave us their address!"
"That's so sweet!"
Yerim smiled brightly at him.
"I'm so happy for you Juju!"
"Same."
Juhyeok exhaled loudly, creating a white puffy cloud in the air from all the cold.
"I also finally heard my mom and dad's story for the first time," he said, causing a shift of mood.
"You did?"
"Mhm... kinda made me understand my dad's actions in the past a bit better."
"Huh..."
A sudden question invaded Yerim's mind.
"Does your dad know what you told me?"
"What?"
"On our sleepover. About your mom."
"Ohhh..."
Juhyeok shook his head.
"I haven't. I don't know if I even should, cuz everything is different now, right? Dad is happy with Papa, and I'm happy with just the way it currently is. So I don't really see a point in bringing it up."
"True. Sometimes, I still can't believe your dad is together with Mr Choi. It feels, like what Mom would say, surreal, but in a good way!"
"I'm glad too."
The bell rang in the next moment, making Yerim sigh in frustration.
"Here we go, unnecessary hours of school because of some special assembly and workshops about teambuilding," she groaned.
"Come on, I'm sure we're gonna have fun!"
"I hope so. Otherwise I'm gonna wish I stayed sick a little longer."
"Ha ha."
The two kids ended up having a lot of fun, thanks to the instructors being incredibly friendly and making everything enjoyable, and exited the building with happy smiles on their faces.
"How come you're always right when it comes to doing school activities?" Yerim asked.
"Beats me."
Juhyeok gasped out loud when he spotted someone leaning against a car.
"Dad!!"
He skipped down the stairsteps and ran to his father with wide outstretched arms. Taehyun caught him smoothly and hugged his son tightly.
"Heyyy, how was the workshop!"
"So much fun!"
"That's good to know. Hey there Yerim," he greeted the girl behind them.
"Hi Mr Kang, are you driving us to the art school?"
The brunette nodded.
"Mhm, change of plans: your mom had a sudden errand to run, Soobin is busy, and I just so happened to have my break for the next few hours, so I'll be driving you two there."
