The Liar
"Grandma.." Rapunzel called while staring at her breakfast. It was Friday already, the day the kids arranged to talk with Anne."Yes sweetie" Anne replied after swallowing some bacon.
"My...my friends are coming over today..." Rapunzel couldn't believe that she's using the word friends! She never thought she'd ever used it again after Jaime, even her grandma was surprised when she said that.
"That's amazing" Anne smiled looking at her granddaughter, she hated how Rapunzel would lock herself up from the world, isolating herself "Want me to bake some cookies? Oh maybe some brownies!" She was excited.
"Not necessary" Rapunzel mumbled, how can she tell her grandma that they're coming to interrogate her! "We will work.... on our... project.." She wasn't completely there, she just never mentioned that her project is Pitch Black.
"Sure!" Anne beamed happily "It's better to surround yourself with some friends"
"Why..." Rapunzel asked furrowing her eyebrows. It's just the way her grandma said it seemed off, or maybe she's just being paranoid after how the others told her that her grandma is hiding something.
"Friends give you power" Anne held Rapunzel's hand from across the table gently "If you're together then you'd be less scared... you won't be filled with much fear... fear makes you weak honey, it makes your soul vulnerable so you become an easy prey" Anne's words just made Rapunzel's doubt grow. The way she talked about fear.. it's as if she knows that fear is what's terrorizing this town.
"I need to go...I'll be late" Rapunzel pulled her hand away instantly as she put on her back pack and headed out before her grandma could say another word. She didn't mean to hurt her feelings but as ironic as this might sound, Rapunzel doesn't hate anything more than lying.
She never lied to anyone about anything she just never spoke and it was of others safety! Rapunzel admits it was a wrong decision to not let out a voice but she's doing the right thing now. She just hopes her grandma is not hiding anything... for years she had been asking her about this town but she always said she doesn't know.
Rapunzel sighed hoping that she's just being paranoid and nothing is going on behind her back. She walked to her bike and as she was about to ride it she spotted a familiar figure.
"What took you so long! You could be late for school" Jack groaned folding his arms as he stood there right at the end of the pathway to her house.
"Morning...?" Rapunzel frowned as she walked slowly to him. They'll talk with her grandma after school not before school, did he mistake the timing? Jack just looked at her up and down pressing his lips together "Didn't we agree to meet up after scho-"
"You want me gone that much?" Jack asked looking at her with a sharp stare.
"N-No!" Rapunzel rushed in answering "I am sorry... I didn't mean it that way" She sighed avoiding eye contact.
"Don't look away" Jack's demanding voice hit her ears. Her gaze shifted by itself to his eyes staring at his crystal blue ones that held a sad emotion behind it "And yes we'll meet up after school, I came here for something else"
"W-What is it?" Why does she always stutter around him. Jack took a step closer to her and she was able to feel the heatness coming up to her face, she swallowed the lump in her throat. What's wrong? Did something new happen?
"It's...." Jack sighed pressing his lips together. If Rapunzel didn't know him, she'd say he's blushing a bit out of nervousness "I wanted to say I am sorry" He looked away after saying that avoiding her gaze.
