"Mas lalo kang gumanda, Ate Bela!" pambobola sa akin ni Chacha pero alam ko na kung ano ang ibig sabihin n'yan.

Lumapit siya kung saan ako at yinakap ang aking binti. Sumunod na rin ang iba pang mga bata kaya napapalibutan nila ako.

"Nagmamadali akong pumunta dito, Cha. Hindi na ako nakabili ng mga regalo," biro ko sa kan'ya at sinuklay ko ang kan'yang buhok.

Tiningnan niya ako at ngumuso pero nanatili siyang nakayakap sa aking binti.

"Ate Bela, sino po 'yong kasama n'yo?" Onyx asked glancing at Atticus behind my back.

"He is Kuya Atticus, Onyx," I answered.

I gave Atticus a sign to come near and he obliged.

"Kiddos, this is Kuya Atticus. Be good to him, okay?"

"Are you Ate Bela's boyfriend?" Dannie asked him.

Tiningnan ako ni Atticus, nagtatanong kung ano ang isasagot niya but before I could answer Dannie, Onyx spoke.

"No, Dannie. Ate Bela is my girlfriend," Onyx told like a grown-up man although he is only 12!

"Stop bluffing, Onyx. I'm the boyfriend," Ganner the 11-year-old uttered.

Hindi makapaniwalang tiningnan ni Atticus ang mga bata. He was dumbfounded at the moment.

I heard the elder laugh at us, napangiti nalang ako.

"Tigil na mga bata, lubayan niyo muna ang Ate at papahingahin n'yo muna, kararating lang nila," Mama Flora uttered smiling.

Nakinig naman ang mga bata at nagpaalam sa'kin bago tumakbo papasok ng haven. Lumapit kami ni Atticus sa mga matatanda. Nagmano ako sa kanilang lahat. Anim sila lahat at apat silang 'andito ngayon, baka busy ang iba para sa handaan mamaya.

Mama Flora, Mama Nela, Mama Wela, and Mama Raya are here. Pinakilala ko sa kanila si Atticus at ilang sandali pa ay pumasok na kami. Nauna silang naglakad sa amin at katabi ko naman si Atticus.

"Ang dami kong kaagaw dito, Lav," nakasimangot na sabi niya.

"Mga bata lang sila, Atticus," I told him giggling.

"'Di mo sure," nakasimangot pa ring saad niya.

Tinawanan ko lang siya at hindi na nagsalita pa. Malaki ang bahay, it has plenty of rooms for the kids, hanggang 4th-floor din. The kids that are here are homeless, nakikita lang sila sa gilid ng kalsada at ang iba ay iniwan na sanggol pa lang sa labas ng haven.

It's sad. I know they have different stories to leave their children in the care of others but they should have been careful to create another life if they are not yet ready. Yes, kids are blessings but they should planned and be careful enough to avoid having unwanted pregnancies that in the end, only the kid who will suffer the most.

If they can't take care of another life, they should have been careful. My parents may be ignored my feelings but they didn't abandon me- they did but still, they never left me alone. They supported me financially.

I have a room here and it's on the second floor, maybe I'll just share a room with Atticus. I can trust him, he never did anything against my will when I stayed in his room at the resort so it's fine. And elders thought that he is my boyfriend. I bought clothes in the mall for us earlier in case we stayed longer here.

"In the past years, you spent your holidays here, Lav?" he asked now sitting at the edge of the bed. Nakatukod ang dalawa n'yang siko sa kan'yang tuhod.
