Chapter 6

Months passed and my parents never go home. After the last encounter with my Dad, we haven't talked to each other since that night.

I never bother to send him a message for I know that he'll never read it or worse, he'll just going to ignore my text.

“Lav, pahiram ako ng brain cells,” Atticus tiredly said after the exam.

We're currently on a lunch break.

Days run so fast, we're now close to finals for the first semester. I heard that Senior High School is just easy and I can say that it's a lie.

Research is already exhausting me plus there are other subjects that require projects, these all are completely draining me. This is so hard, how much more is the college phase? I heavily sigh.

“I'm also drained, Atti. Ubos na rin akin,” nakabusangot kong saad.

Honestly, the morning exam isn't that difficult. I studied hard because I don't want to disappoint my parents. Kahit sa gan'to lang makuha ko ang attention nila. I wanna prove to my Dad that I'm not a disappointment.

I'm aiming to be one of With High Honors to make them proud. Even tho I know that they won't, nagbabaksakali lang.

Dinadamayan ko lang si Atticus. Although I know that he did better, we both studied hard because we don't want our parents to blame our relationship for having low grades.

“Kakayanin natin 'to, Lav. Para sa future natin!”  masigla niyang sabi, walang bakas ng kahit anong  pagod.

Bilis magbago ng mood, ah.

“Para sa future namin ni Willow!” Adam seconded.

Nasa isahang table kasi kami sa cafeteria. Katabi ko si Willow at Kaharap ko si Atticus, nasa tabi naman niya si Adam. Jason is nowhere, baka kasama si Hannah.

“Future namin ni Lavinia, Adam. 'Wag kang epal!” reklamo ni Atticus at binatukan si Adam.

“Aray! Pangit mo, Atticus! May future din kami ni Willow, 'wag ding epal!” he retorted glaring at Adam.

Para silang aso at pusa. Ang iingay. Nilingon ko si Willow sa aking tabi at nakukunot ang noo nito sa dalawa. Nang makapansin niya nakatatingin ako sa kaniya ay nilingon niya ako.

I gestured that we should head to our room and she nodded. Tumayo kami na hindi napapansin ng dalawa, napairap tuloy ako sa hangin. Humawak ako sa siko ni Willow at naglakad na kaming dalawa papuntang room. Bahala sina Atticus. Ang sakit nila sa tenga.

Nang makapasok kami sa room, my classmates are reviewing. Nang makaupo ako, sinubsob ko ang mukha sa lamesa ng aking upuan. Feeling ko mapipiga ang utak ko kapag magre-review pa ako dahil sa pressure. I'll just relax my brain because it was too tired from the lessons that are being studied these past few days. Ayokong dagdagan at baka mawala lahat ng pinag-aralan ko mamaya sa oras ng exam.

Willow is reading a book too but it's not about the lessons, she's reading a novel. Gaya ko, ayaw niya ring magreview. She's smart naman kaya madali lang para sa kanya ang exam, lagi nga siyang nangunguna sa klase.

“Lavinia!”

“Willow!”

Atticus and Adam shouted in unison. Napabangon tuloy ako sa pagkasubsob. Nakuha rin ang attention ng mga kaklase ko pero nang na-realize nila na sina Atticus lang, binalik nila ang mga kanilang mata sa reviewer.

Both are glaring at us, inirapan ko sila at hindi pinansin. Ganun rin ang ginawa ni Willow. Well, they are annoying but even if I'm used to it, I need peace of mind right now.
