Chapter 1: Which gig?

I have died every day waiting on you, maybe it's time for me to move on-

"Liam! Mail ran!" Dex yelled, swinging the door open to their workplace while making his way towards the hardworking beta behind the Bar. "Is it more junk mail? What I would do for us to have a gig, it's been a few weeks already!" Liam grumbled while rising the shot glasses in a rough manner. "Damn what did those glasses do to you?" Dex laughed as Liam turned the water off. "Anyways, it's our lucky day we have a few gigs in here for us to decide from." 

Liam leaned against the counter, scanning the gigs. He really just wanted to find something else to do besides work. Him and Dex did go out and about here and there, but it still wasn't enough to keep his mind off the things he should've stopped thinking about long ago. He sighed.

Dex was always watching Liam up close; it was something he picked up on back when his partner left him high and dry. It was always a touchy subject too because he was the only one who got to see Liam in a deep dark place for a very long time and even when Liam tells him he is fine, He knows it's a lie. 

"What about this one? It seems pretty fun" Liam picked up a nightclub invite that had glitter spilling all over the counter. "Or we can do this one? It looks elegant and fancy!" Dex slid the unopened invitation over to him. "You just want to go to a fancy house and drink fancy things" Liam nudged his friend with a smirk.  "And what if i do? Here ill open it and read."

Liam Gasped "I'm surprised, Dex can read!" Dex smacked him with the invite before opening it " Shut up" He shook his head before clearing his throat, trying to sound all fancy while reading.

"To Mr. Dunbar, I am personally inviting you to my engagement party that's going to be held this Saturday, I know the timing is short but i would appreciate it if you did come. I'm super excited to meet you, Signed by Max. P.S You can bring a Plus one!" 

"I don't know anyone named Max nor do i know anyone getting married" Liam gave a confused look before taking the invite from Dex. "I don't know anyone by that name either, maybe it was from someone back in college? or high school. Who knows but I still think we should go" 

"I don't recall anyone by the name Max and i don't think this is a gig it's a personal invite. to me which is creepy" Liam rubbed the back of his neck, trying to think on who this was but the only thing that popped into his head was having to go and find out.  "Alright we'll have to dig into our savings and buy a proper suit for this thing. Specially you because if you're going to be my date i want you at least looking descent."

Dex gasped putting a hand over his chest "First of all i waited for this day to come, you asking me to be your date and all~" Dex laughed while giving him a smile which gained him a punch in the arm "Okay ow! and Secondly, i always look good and you can ask anyone that" He waved his hand down from the top of his head and down.

Liam rolled his eyes, putting the rest of the gigs back in Dex's hand and keeping the engagement invite to put in his jacket. "Shut up Mr. Brooks and go home, my shift should be done in a few hours and i definitely don't want to be hanging onto you on that stupid bike of yours."

Dex stood up; digging in his coat pockets for his keys while shaking his head "Pft you enjoy it, denial is the first step to everything and if you keep saying my last name you might as well steal it too" Liam picked up an wet rag he had cleaned the counter with and tossed it at Dex which made him hurry out the door "Go home! take your flirty remarks too!" 

Liam ran his hand through his hair before getting back to work, his mind was now wondering on about this Invite. Who could it possibly be?

What does everyone think of this chapter? I'm really excited and happy to finally put my dramatic ideas into action.  Don't worry either i promise it'll get better, I just don't want the story to be fast paced even though sometimes i feel like i write it fast paced.
