Dinner with the Mayfields was a somber affair. Although they did speak with each other, you can tell Ms. Mayfield still misses her husband despite what he has done. Billy talked about trying to get his job back as a lifeguard so he can move back to California, and possibly changing his last name so he won't be associated with his dad anymore. Max and I did most of the talking and I worried about her mom.

I burned Billy's father after dinner deep in the woods and buried his bones once they cooled down. As long as Billy burns his items later they won't have to worry about him coming back to haunt them.

The next day, Will finally convinced his friends to join him in a short session since he was leaving soon, and he invited me over so I'd finally learn how to play D&D. It was a great session, with dragons, elves, a princess, complex puzzles, and even a good vampire since he felt bad about the vampires being evil stereotypes.

I told him it was fine since all vampires I came across so far were evil and I would've understood, but none of them would have it. I made sure that they knew not to trust other monsters unless I was there to personally introduce them (which wasn't happening) and to call me if they do run into one of any kind, including monsters from the upside down so I'd come and take care of mine or help them take care of theirs. Later that week Will and his mom, Joyce, came to my motel room and I gave them both Devil traps. They took it as well as you'd think they would.

Joyce mourned the sheriff, Hopper, in silence but I could see her grief through her smiles. Eleven has yet to leave the room Joyce has given her and she started to worry since she's never had a girl to take care of but I told her to give Eleven some more time to process and that she'll be out of her room in a few days. I even suggested having her friends go talk to her to see if it'll help.

Although Billy claims that he tried not to, he came by two days in a row after dinner and sat in silence as I went about my business with the kids (with an occasional remark or insult at what was going on in the game while we played), and they were weirded out at how calm Billy was acting, or he watching me go through newspaper after newspaper as I looked for a hunt.

On the first day once the kids left after the D&D session, I gave him a devil's trap tattoo since he had my blood flowing through him and will have my scent rooted into his blood temporarily. He understood and promised he could take care of some monsters jokingly, but I saw his worry and gave him a gun with silver bullets and a machete just to be safe as well as showing him how to draw a trap.

The world seemed to be calm at the moment but it was hard to say so since this town doesn't get much news sent to them.

After two days of me pestering Billy to do what he normally would, he rolls his eyes and leaves to fix up his totaled car. On the third day, Max and her mother invited me to go shopping with them, "How about we go pick up El and have her join us then have lunch after? We all look like we can use a pick-me-up. My treat." They nod and we go get El, she was finally leaving her room so I took the opportunity to get her out of the house.

We all walk around and poke through thrift shops, the girls doing fashion shows and convincing me and Max's mom to do the same. We were all smiles and giggles and it made me happy to see the hurt leave their minds, even if it was temporary.

We all headed to the record store after tossing our things in her car since the girls wanted some more music and I needed more for my long drives anyways since I was wearing out the only six I had.

I watched the girls and Max's mom look through the different bins with a smile before I turned to the bins next to me and looked through the options. "Do you need any help finding anything or any recommendations?" I looked up at the guy who asked and noticed his hellfire shirt first. I looked him over quickly seeing his curly hair, ripped Jean jacket vest over a leather jacket, ripped blue jeans, and dirty white converse.
