I'm sorry if anything comes off wrong, or maybe there's some plot holes, or I skip anything. I've been doing my best to write and I'll eventually proof over it when I can. I've lost my grandfather recently and it's been hard on me, plus one of my animals is not doing so well. If you spot any mistakes or have any critiques, please absolutely feel free to let me know and I will fix them! I'd hate for the story to drop in quality. 🫶🏻 just reply to this paragraph to make it easier for me to find, thank you!
_______________
The Ikran seem to be handling you well enough, keeping you alone from starting this all out war.
You're too far to shoot, use your bow, or even swim out to the ship in time. The ilu aren't this far out either, so calling for one wouldn't work.
You see Tonowari approaching out of the corner of your eye, and although you don't see his full face by the way your hair hangs loosely - you can tell he's facing you with worry.
And although you can't see Lo'ak from this far out, he's shaking and screaming all the same as you are when Jake only gets closer.
Tonowari softly calls out to you at first, simply trying to get your attention long enough so you wouldn't sit there gazing into the distance.
Jake might be solving his own personal beef with Quaritch because of their broken alliance from the past, but what about you?
Tonowari calls again, and this time he's a bit more defined and heavy with his wording. He hates to order anything of you, but he'd promise this last sincere gesture to Jake.
And what happens even if they do take Jake? What then? How do we know they'll give the kids back? What if they come for you next?
Tonowari takes to lifting himself up, kneeling against his skimwings back as he leans forward and brushes his hand against the back of Arohks head to settle him.
Just because Jake does this, is there any real truth to this being over? What happens when this doesn't satisfy them?
"Look at me, or else I'll have to pull you away."
Tonowari is so kind with the way he says it, despite how hurtful it is.
You can't even get yourself to move, let alone acknowledge in any way that you're hearing him. It's only when his hand comes to the lower of your back, attempting to pull you onto the skimwing with him, that you react so suddenly.
A scream of protest so loud that even Jake can hear it, and his ears fall just like the rest of his expression.
"You must come with me." Tonowari says a bit firmer now - no longer a friend by your side, but your leader asking this of you.
Before he can even reach out to grab and separate your queue from Arohk's —- a loud crashing sound fills the air and calls for everyone's attention.
It's enough for the Ikrans to let up a small bit, realizing that what they were asked has now changed in circumstance.
You're able to look over Arohk's head now as he lowers, and can very clearly make out the Tulkun that's thrown itself upon the ship.
Payakan.
He's taken over, crushing enemies, swatting away weapons, tossing items as he causes small explosions, and knocks over the Avatars who held your children captive.
It leaves everything open now - changing the course of things.
Tonowari moves back, and looks to his people as they all give out their best war cries — Payakan signaling the start of this.
