CHAPTER XII : HEART

"Okay, everybody, let's hear it for love!"Mr. Schue said, clapping his hand as he walked into Glee Club. Santana and Brittany were up at the front jokingly dancing around and every couple in the room was being all cutesy. All I wanted was to be doing the same thing as them but my boyfriend was at home still recovering from an eye injury "Your assignment for Valentine's week is to find and perform the world's greatest love songs. Now, Regionals is next week, and we still need to raise 250 dollars for costumes and hair spray" "Oh, God, not another bake sale" Kurt muttered beside me, as we were both sat at the piano "If any student gives ten dollars, we will sing
these 'world's greatest love songs' to their Valentine. We will serenade each classroom-" "No!" Everyone shouted and I fell off my seat in shock. Sam, ever the gentleman, quickly jumped out of his seat and helped me up, trying and ultimately failing to hold his laughter in "Two years ago, we went room-to-room Christmas caroling, they threw food" Tina said frustratedly "And shoes" Mike added, "Yes, Sugar?" Mr. Schue said as he spotted Sugar with her hand up "Here's a spoonful of Sugar for you all" She said, taking off her heart-shaped sunglasses "Don't sweat the small stuff, and it's all small stuff when you're rich. So, here you go" She said, standing up and walking over to Mr. Schue, a wad of cash in her hand "Uh, Sugar, I can't take that," Mr. Schue said apprehensively "Take it!" Kurt said forcefully, almost making me jump out of my skin again "Hey, guys, can everyone stop scaring me? I swear I'll die if you all make another loud noise" I said, slamming my head onto the top of the piano "Okay, everyone, give it up for Sugar for paying for our FinalNet and cummerbunds!" Mr. Schue said cheerfully. This time, I knew they were going to make a collective loud noise and prepared myself for it, joining in with the claps and cheers "I love the sound of applause, even if I have to buy it. Okay, everyone, look under your chairs. Except you Artie, your chair kept moving so I put your surprise in the wastebasket. Oh, and Naya, I thought you would be sitting over by Sam, so yours is there" Sugar said, smiling sweetly at everyone. I nodded my head, sitting down by Sam and grabbing my surprise. It was a box of chocolates "I found mine ten minutes ago" Puck said, justifying why he had chocolate smeared around his mouth "V-Day is my fav day ever. And to help me celebrate, my daddy's throwing me a huge, ridic party at Breadstix. And I'm naming it the Sugar Shack. And—drum-roll Rachel" Rachel drilled on the drums haphazardly with Finn's drumsticks "You're all invited! But you have to bring a date. No single people allowed. They're sad and boring and they don't exist in my world" "Um, but you're single" Mercedes pointed out "Not for long" Sugar said, winking with a smirk.

I lay in Blaine's arms, on his bed, in his room. He held me close, his cheek resting on the top of my head as I nestled into his chest "It's so boring at school, without you there. When are you coming back?" I asked, tilting my head to look up at him "Hopefully in time for Regionals" He said, reaching his hand up to run through my hair "It's boring being stuck at home too, especially when you're not here to keep me company" "Maybe it's a good thing that you're not in, you missed out on a really weird lesson last week. Mr. Schue got this Spanish guy in and we did Latin music, Mr. Schue even sang in a bullfighter uniform with Mike and Britt dressed up as the bulls. It was...weird" I said, shuddering as I remembered. Blaine chuckled and pulled me even closer if possible "I'm so sorry Nay-Nay, it's our first Valentine's together and I'm not even able to celebrate with you properly" He said sadly. I sat up, propping myself up on my elbows "You have nothing to be sorry for, love" I said, reaching out to brush a stray curl from his face "It's my fault you're in this predicament" "How many times do I have to tell you that it's not your fault?" He asked, his eyebrows furrowing "That slushie was meant for me" I said, frowning "If I had taken it to the face, I would be in this situation, not you" "Well, we would still be spending our Valentine's like this, just swapped around. And besides, if we're going to blame anyone, we blame Sebastian, Okay?" I nodded my head and lay back down beside him "Do you remember when we first met him and you told me he's 'harmless' I disagreed, and look who's right" I said, smirking up at him "Alright, alright, I get it, I should listen to you more" He said, sighing exasperatedly "Yeah, you should, you know why?" "Why?" "Because I'm a woman. And women are always right" I said, booping on his nose. He chuckled and wrapped his arms around me. He reached his hands up under my shirt and towards my shoulder blades, where he knew I was the most ticklish. I squealed, trying to squirm away from him as he tickled me. 'Two can play at that game'. I thought as I reached my hand down, tickling around his stomach "Stop—stop, Naya" He said in between laughs "I'll stop when you stop" I said, still tickling him. He laughed a bit more and then took his hands out from under my shirt. He pulled me close, calming down but he still had a smile plastered on his face "I love you" He said lovingly, smiling down at me "Damn right you do, babe" I said, punching his chest lightly. He playfully rolled his eyes at me and smiled softly "Naya, I'm trying to be cute here" He said exasperatedly "You're always cute, especially with that eyepatch" I said, shrugging my shoulders "You like it, huh?" "Yeah, I'm gonna miss it. There's just something about pirates, you know? Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, perfection" I said, kissing the tips of my fingers like a chef "I'll keep that in mind for Halloween" He said, kissing the top of my head. I smiled softly at the thought of us still being together next year "You know, your pretty cute too" "But seriously Naya, I love you" He said softly and sincerely "I love you too Blaine"

At lunch, the New Directions sat together, eating and just chatting. Kurt came with his tray of food and sat beside me, smiling cheerfully "Wait, ch one are you gonna take to Sugar's V- Day party?"  Artie asked Puck confusedly "All of them," Puck said, smirking grossly "The entire sorority?" Artie asked in shock "They don't call them the 'E-Z-Dee-Zee's' for nothing. I got the gig cleaning the sorority house swimming pool, then I sawed through those chicks liked a freakin' sex tornado-room-to-room" "Those poor girls, they probably didn't feel anything" I said, pouting "Oh, shut up, Naya" Puck said, throwing a fry at me. I chuckled and threw it back at him "I tried the true love thing-" "With a teacher" Mike pointed out, making everyone laugh "Wasn't for me" Puck sadly said "Well it is for me" I said smiling "And me. Look" Kurt said, holding up a pink card with hearts on it "I've received one of these every day this week, from my secret admirer" "Do you know who it is?" Artie asked, leaning over me to see the card "No, but I'm sure he's adorable" Kurt said dreamily "What if he's ugly though?" Tina prompted "Or a girl?" I said, nudging Kurt's arm "It's a guy! I can feel it" Kurt said frustratedly "Whatever you say, dude," I said, putting a lettuce leaf in my mouth. I saw Tina and mike make weird faces and I heard footsteps behind me. I turned around to face a big gorilla and let out a small shriek, alerting Kurt to the thing behind us "Why does everyone insist on scaring me this week?" I muttered under my breath "A gorilla gram? Pour Moi?" Kurt said, chuckling happily. He accepted the piece of paper from the gorilla's hand and read over it "This is creepy" I whispered to Artie "So creepy" He agreed. "Well, I wonder who it could be. Will you tell me who it is, Valentine gorilla?" Kurt asked hopefully. The gorilla shook his head, handing Kurt a stuffed animal with a balloon tied to it before walking off "You see, Puckerman, that's what you're missing out on true love" "And creepy gorilla's giving you notes" I said, pointing my fork at him, smirking. Kurt rolled his eyes and turned to Rory at the far end of the table "What about you Rory? Who are you taking to Sugar's party?" Kurt asked, resting his head in his hands "Sugar" Rory said wiggling his eyebrows "Hold up" Artie said, stopping Rory from talking more "You better have an option 'B' because I'm all over that" "You're going with Sugar?" Rory asked, his eyebrows furrowing "As soon as I ask her out, and she says yes, which I'm sure she will because—I don't mean this to sound mean, Irish—but nobody understands anything you say" Artie said, crossing his arms "Baloney. Chicks dig accents" Rory said, and I nodded, there was some truth to that. If Blaine had an Irish or English accent, I would be even more in love with him than I already am "I'm sorry, what was that? Couldn't quite make it out" Artie said snidely "Fellas, there's no need to fight. You can just pick up the girls that fall off old Puckerosaurus here" Puck said with his mouth full "But why would they want a girl with no taste?" I asked, batting my eyelashes innocently "You're in a mean mood today" Puck said pointing his fork at me "Just giving you a reality check, Puckerman" I said, shrugging my shoulders "This is a four-leaf clover, kid" Rory said, changing the subject back and holding up a four leaf-clover "Cause you're going to need all the luck you can get" "Do you people just carry those around?" Kurt asked genuinely "Let's Road House, Flanagan"

Glee Club the next day, consisted of both Artie and Rory trying to impress Sugar. I—the person who sat next to her—tried my hardest to keep my laughs in. She turned to me, shrugging her shoulders in confusion as the two boys floundered around stupidly "Artie, four wheels on the floor, please" Mr. Schue said, walking into the room "Rachel, you had an announcement?" Rachel nodded her head and took a deep breath "Yeah, actually Finn and I have an announcement we'd like to make" She said, standing up and pulling Finn with her. She walked to the front, linking her arm around Finn's "Finn and I are proud to announce...that we're finally getting married" "Oh...my...God" I said as others made noises of surprise "When's the baby due?" Puck asked, thinking Rachel was pregnant "Wait, guys, have you both carefully thought this through?" Mr. Schue asked concernedly "Yes. And our parents are totally behind us. And your plan to stop by telling them backfired, Mr. Schue" Mr. Schue furrowed his eyebrows confusedly at Rachel's statement "Actually, I'm the one who told them. Because I think you guys are making a mistake. A huge mistake" Kurt said seriously. I frowned, I understood where he was coming from—it wasn't the best idea—but he had no right to take that massive announcement away from them out of spite "When's the wedding?" Quinn asked "The date is TBD, but I can assure all of you that we're going to have a very simple and elegant ceremony at the Justice of the Peace, which all of you are invited to. And we're registered at Samuel French" Rachel explained, talking so quickly I could barely understand her "You guys aren't mature enough or old enough to properly face this type of commitment" Quinn said frustratedly "If you don't support us, then I feel sorry for you, and you're not invited to the wedding. Which makes me really sad, because I would have loved to have seen you in a bridesmaid's dress, Quinn. And you as well, Kurt" Rachel said harshly "I'd be happy to be a bridesmaid, Rachel.
I'm not sure I'm ready to get married, but I do know what being in love feels like" Tina said, taking Mike's hand "We'll be there" Mike agreed, smiling lovingly at Tina "Me too' I'd love to be a bridesmaid!" I exclaimed happily "Thanks, guys. And we hope the rest of you all change your minds because it would mean a lot to us if you were all there" Finn said, smiling sadly "Well, add me to the list of people who are wishing you guys the best in your marriage.
However, let's stop the fighting and remind ourselves that Valentine's Day is rapidly approaching. So if you'll excuse me" Artie said, wheeling to the front. Rachel and Finn sat back down after another prompt "I got some sugary sweet game to spit" "Oh, God" I mumbled, face-palming after I saw the look on Sugar's face "Give me a beat Finn!"

After the song, Sugar stood up and I winced thinking she was going to reject him "Wheel me to class baby" Sugar said surprisingly, jumping into his lap. Artie smiled brightly and waved happily at the group before wheeling out of class, Sugar's arms around his neck.

"Look what I just found in my locker!"
Kurt said in a sing-song voice as he walked into Glee practice, he waved around another Valentine's card "Is it another gorilla gram?" I called out across the classroom "No, it says, 'Bee Mine Forever from your Secret Honey'. I swear, whoever this is, is such a romantic" Kurt said, stopping in disgust as Finn and Rachel started making out in front of him. I chuckled as he came and sat by me in disgusted silence "Finn, Rachel, come on, that's enough" Mr. Schue said, walking in with Rory. Rachel and Finn sat down begrudgingly "Everyone, sit down, uh, listen up. Rory had the floor" "I've been trying to get my student visa extended, so I can spend junior year at McKinley, but I just found out the request was turned down. So when the school year ends, I'll have to go back to Ireland" Everyone was silent, shocked, and upset "I miss my family so much, but you guys have become my second family. This song reminds me of you guys and how much I've grown to love each and every single one of you, and how thankful I am that you've made a place, 3000 miles away from Ireland, feel like home"

"Rory" Sugar said, standing up after the song had ended "I feel worse for you than I do for Artie. Will you be my date for Valentine's Day?" "It would be an honor," Rory said chivalrously.

"Happy Valentine's, my love," I said, pushing open Blaine's door and smiling lovingly at him "Hi!" He said excitedly, sitting up straight "I've got something for you," I said, coming into the room completely with my hands behind my back "Ooh, what is it?" He asked as I sat do on the edge of his bed. I revealed what was behind my back and he chuckled. It was a cuddly teddy bear, holding a heart cushion with N&B sewn onto it. Blaine chuckled again, leaning forward and grabbing my elbows. He gently pulled me forward into his lap and took the bear from my hands "Do you like it?" "I love it so much, Naya," He said, kissing me on the forehead "Good," I said, wrapping my arms around his neck "I got you something too," He said, digging into his bedside table. He pulled out a small box and handed it to me. I excitedly flicked the lid up, covering my mouth when I saw what was inside. It was a pair of earrings, cute dangly ones with a heart hanging off of them "Blaine, these—how much did they cost? They look expensive" I said, lowering my hand "Not that much," He said shrugging his shoulders "Nothing is too expensive when it comes to you, darling" "Now, you see, that makes me think they were expensive and now I feel guilty for accepting them," I said, closing the box and handing the box back to Blaine. He took it and my hands, placing the box in them. He closed my hands around it and gently pushed my hands back towards my chest "They are yours, just like my heart" He said, reaching out to tuck my hair behind my ear. I sighed and nodded my head "Thank you" I said, leaning forward to kiss him. He kissed me back and I smiled into the kiss "I have something else for you" I said, pulling back from me "Oh yeah?" "Yeah" I sat up "This is for you, captain," I said with a wink, making him chuckle.

I smiled again and hugged him once more, before standing up "Only if you're sure" I said before walking out of his room "I'm sure, go. I love you" He said, waving goodbye to me "I love you too," I said, waving back and leaving the room.

"Hold up, your secret admirer was your high-school bully?" I asked as I sat down in the 'Sugar Shack' beside Kurt "Yes it was. And then we ran into someone from his school, and he's not out yet and I just feel terrible" Kurt said, burying his face in his hands. I placed a hand on his back, rubbing it comfortingly "Everything will be okay. I'm sure of it" I said reassuringly as Sugar walked up to the microphone on the makeshift stage Breadstix had "Testing, testing, testing. What up,
McKinley?!" She shouted into the microphone to a bunch of cheers
"Welcome to the Sugar Shack! Okay, everyone look under your chairs, except you, Artie. Yours is in the potted plant right behind you" I looked under my seat and found a heart made of cheeses with some coupons attached to it "Attached to a Hickory Hills Cheese Heart are gift certificates worth $200 each for Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Panda Express, and Lima Mall Swatch Watch kiosk!" Sugar explained, earning another round of cheers and applause "I would like to thank my daddy for making tonight possible. And P.S. he is not in the Mafia. And next up, straight from heaven above, give it up for the God Squad!" "Hi!" The guy with the dreadlocks said once he, Sam, Quinn, and Mercedes went up to the stage "My name's Joe. Santana Lopez asked me if the God Squad would sing a love song for Brittany S. Pierce. And after thinking and praying about it, I knew there was only one right answer.

"Jesus! Holla!" Sugar said excitedly as she walked up to the stage again "Okay, everyone, it's time for my extra-special guest, back from the dead and cute and compacts as ever!" Sugar gestured towards the door to Breadstix and someone turned around "Happy Valentine's Day, everybody!" Blaine said, spinning around. My eyes widened and I clapped my hands excitedly "This song is dedicated to all the lovers in the room" He said, taking off his heart-shaped eyepatch and winking at me.
Love Shack — B-52 (Sung By Blaine, Mercedes, Brittany, Naya & Rachel)
During the song, he pulled me up to sing with him and I couldn't have been happier. He was here, with me, on Valentine's Day and we were celebrating, together.
